Dension Gateway 500 iPod Adapter Arrived Today

Patience, Patience, Patience
Rick,
At least an update on your installation please I am wearing out my keyboard checking the site to see how your installation is going. I know, get a life! I am really hating the fm transmitter for my IPOD with its white wires and falling between the seat and console
If this works, I will be one of the first to be included in a group buy if I can wait that long
Thanks,
Deacon

Sorry for the delay - I was at the Seahawks game on Saturday so I didn't start working on it until Sunday and ran into an installation problem which I think due to connecting to a line that was reading +12V on my meter, but really is not a +12V power line.
I'm going to try connecting the power correctly tonight and will post an update once I have some results.

I just tried to quickly connect the adapter to a known +12V line and everything works as expected. I was playing iPod audio through the PCM!
Now I've just got to make the permanent power connection and re-install the plastic panels in the front trunk.

OK, I got it all working. I just need to cleanly wrap the wires and re-install the front trunk paneling.
Overall the install was very easy, despite my gaffe in pulling +12V from the wrong wire. I was able to tap into the MOST ring and pull power from the cables going to the NAV drive. I've attached some pics of the yet-to-be-cleaned-up install.

Here are some pics of the PCM display when playing the iPod.
Overall, I haven't seen any glitches but I've only taken it for one drive.
I wish the navigation of the menus would be better integrated with the PCM rather than through various audio commands (CD #, next/prev track, etc.) but that would have required new firmware for the PCM. Despite this, its not too difficult to get use to, although it is a different paradigm than navigating through the other PCM screens.
So far it looks good. Audio quality is great, as well as the extensive song selection!

Great info! Are you limited to a certain number of albums/artists shown? For instance if you have 1000 artists, can you scroll through all of them? How fast does it scroll? And lastly does it remember the last song played when the ignition is turned off/on?

Yes, that is what I thought. The group buy is for the Dension USA, or "DICE Electronics" unit (as shown in the group buy pictures). I'm not sure why most are still referring to that unit as a "dension" when it is a "dice electronics"
This unit is the "real" Dension unit from Europe. I ordered from www.maxcount.de

There is a DIP switch which needs to be set depending on whether you have PCM or CDR23/24.
For Boxster/Cayman owners, having PCM means you also have NAV. For 911 owners, having PCM but not having NAV only means that you need to find another MOST component where you can make the fiber connection.

I'm most curious to see if you can access more than 99 songs on each playlist, and whether the song title and track number will automatically advance to next song.
Yes, the above two bugs come from my iPod kit from Nav TV.
