Default Battery Maintinance

When keeping the car plugged into a battery maintainer for extended periods of time how often should the water level in the battery be checked? Has anyone experienced diminished levels occuring quickly when storing their car with a maintainer? Thanks

I usually keep my car on a tender all winter and have had no issues with battery performance or maintenance.

I can't imagine you'll have any issues.

Which maintainer are you using?

From one JFS to another...

I have a battery maintainer on both the Bike, Boxster and 911 during the winter months becuase I don't drive those vehicles very much due to snow, etc.

The sealed batteries on all three are fine and do not need to be checked as long as you are using a "trickle charger" such as the Porsche battery maintainer, HD product, etc.

Here's a pic of how I store my car all winter long minus the car cover for the photo. I have the Porsche trickle charger on at all times, and I store my car on 4 rubber pads from Tire Cradle so my tires don't flat spot. My garage is also climate controlled, which is always nice for a happy car

Does it matter where under the door you run the wire? I was afraid it would kink or short out an have my window cracked slightly instead!

Im more worried about damage to the rubber seal being compressed with the chord for so long. I would rather crack the window and put it thru there. Also would provide a little vent so you dont get any musty odor during storage months.

You can crack the window if you like as long as it reaches the cigarette lighter for plug in. It's a fairly thin cord. Mine has been hooked up this way for almost a year and so fare no problems.
