I have the K-40 and V1. Even with the cost of the K-40 with all its bells and whistles, agree it is an excellent choice, but I feel more comfortable using the V1. If taking a long drive, I use both as view the V1 provides better warning, and the arrows are very significant. If had to do over again would only have the V1. A negative of the V1 is it is not concealed.

Have had 2 generations of V1 and have no reservations whatsoever. The false negatives can be mitigated by changing logic modes. Logic mode with rural/interstate coupled with situational awareness is hard to beat.
A clear bra with radar absorbent material (RAM) ala F-117 probably would help.
Also try not to use a front license plate, have been driving in NYS for years and no citation (yet).

How do the V1 arrows differ from the K40 front and rear lights and warning?

I have the K40 Calibre bluetooth w/ front and rear radar, and Lidatek front and rear laser diffusers on my 07 C4S and I couldn't be happier. I have in my daily driver a 2yr old Passport 8500, and I've been in a few friends cars with V1's. Here on local roads in CT (95 in particular) they place at regular intervals along the highway combination of x-band radar units some in conjunction with traffic cameras. These are the source of constant false signals on my Passport and the same with friends V1...NONE so far with the K-40 which amazed me. So seems to have better false filter for one. Secondly, the installation is cleanest available w/ no wires and only 2 very small LED's mounted on either side of the tach. The only thing close would have been the V1 mounted in the rear-view mirror but I didn't want the red arrows/lights in my mirror as I think it would be distracting, might attract tailgaters at night, and isn't as direct a sightline when triggered as the dash-mounted LED's. Personally I think most of these top brands are so close in terms of radar performance it is more a matter of what you want to spend and if you want to get the laser diffusors. For me, I have had 2 speeding tickets in the past 3 yrs in CT both from Laser, and both times my Passport was nice enough to "detect" I was being shot at...once that happens w/ Laser it's too late. If you live in an area that uses it then the decison is easy. I only have 600 miles on my car and have not been hit with radar signal yet but based on my research, and lack of false signals compared to other detectors, the radar capabilities are very good. I did have one false Laser warning from a new Escalade's rear LED tailights. He was making a left turn in front of me and I was closer behind him in slow traffic than I would ever be in a highway situation. I paid $2,500 installed at dealer. Passport SRX was $2,300, and V1 in mirror was $2,700. Good luck with your decision.

The best tested radar detector/laser detector and laser jammer out is the V1/ Laser Pro Park combo. This has been tested over and over again. You can buy a V1 and LPP laser jammer (officer its a parking sensor...see???) for less then 1/2 of the K40 Calibre and the K40 doesnt even work.

Well I know you will enjoy the real life saves by the Laser Pro Park against Police laser in Wa.st and Vancover police in Canada. I would say a good deal is saving your hard earned $$$ and having something you are very confident about having in your Porsche or any other car you would have it in and working when you need it to. I also heard the LPP is sponsering some of the main guys in the upcoming Gumball rally. Here is a pic of a Ferrari F430 and if you pic the High Res. and enlarge the pic you can see just 1 laser pro park jammer head protecting the Ferrari right under the lic. plate. And 1 laser pro park laser jammer head under the rear plate.

I use the V1 etched into my mirror with a Lidatek for laser duties.

Thats a nice set up you have, which Lidetek do you have? Did you know that Lidetek is not longer around in business? My favorite laser jammer of all time is the Lidetek LE10 but again its not made anymore and that laser jammer was designed by the US Military guys that came up the Lidetek company then sold it some other people and then it went out of business.

Yes that is a old post in AudiWorld. Lidetek went out of business about 5-6 months ago, but in the laser jammer business it is a strange business, any thing can happen if someone wants to buy Lidetek back.

I was just talking to my installer the other day making plans to remove the V1, lidatek (LE-30 BTW) and mirror for when the TT arrives. He mentioned that they were up for sale or sold - can't remember if someone bought them and is making them again. I already own it so I have no worries about re-installing it.
