Thanks for the great response to a prior post asking about a clear bra. I had the installation done by the board favorite - Premier. On edge waiting to have the film done since the car arrived the prior Saturday.

Sam and Wilson came by yesterday (Sunday) at the ungodly hour of 6:30AM and worked for 4 hours cleaning and applying the film. I've had film on 3 other cars, applied by guys that are now no where to be found, and thought their work was good. However compared to Sam and Wilson's work, the others were at best amatuers. I had the the precut kit, custom hood/bumper, and wheelwells done.

The results far exceeded my lofty expectations (bolstered from the rave review of others on the board). I watched the whole process from start to finish and was amazed at the precision work... you guys have to see how they do the custom bumper! The results were so good that I drove over to Newport Auto to get their impressions. The sales guys could pick out the thin film lines on the hood, and the mirrors when real close, but didn't realize the bumper, headlights, and wheelwells were covered until I pointed it out!!!

I'm not one to gush over much, but if you're going to have film done you have to go with Sam and Wilson if you really care about your car. Drive up to the Bay area if you have to. Is it expensive - YES, twice as much as my last two cars (I had to lie to my wife about how much)! Is it worth it? - EVERY PENNY!

I believe Sammy is placing clear guard on my 993's nose along with a 997 that belongs to another RL-er as I write this. As I have an older car ('96) I have a few more areas to have the paint shop respray before having the rest of the car done. I have seen his work on that other RL-ers 993S and they did an awsome job.

I'm going tomorrow to have mine installed on my new 997 C4S Cabrio.
What parts of the body do you recommend to put it on? I have been thinking of putting it on the front bumpers, the front lights, the side mirrors, and 1/2 of the hood and fenders (although I'm debating to do it on the hood and fender).
Please give me some feedback.

I would recommend the entire hood and the entire front fenders. I have the partial hood and fenders. Looks great, but about 3 weeks ago a rock hauler lost some gravel and one of the small rocks hit right in the top of the left front fender. No dents but cut the paint all of the way thru. Would have had no damage if the fender had been covered to the door.

Like JHD, I got the partial hood and fenders too, and still worry about the errant high flying rock. You'll have better peace of mind with the full fenders and hood. Also consider the wheel wells too..... our large tires picks up a lot of small rocks off the ground that beats up the area right behind.

What part of the wheel wells are covered?

It is a strip that follows the crease of the sheet metal on the outside and covers the painted surface facing the tire inside the wheel well. So on the outside it is about 1 1/2" thick starting from the bottom and going up about 18". Very hard to see it, but even better knowing that the dirt and rocks being kicked up isn't nicking your paint.

Guys, you are correct. This is the way to go.

For many of our clients, they choose to go with the full front qtr of the car because of the exact same reasons mentioned here. We have been covering full panels some 3.5 yrs ago and the trend is to get more covered; however, many installers are not experienced with precut kit installations, with even fewer doing full panels. Keep in mind with the following when searching for a good installer:

1. those who work on these cars on a daily basis would know quite a bit about the car. Probe with questions.
2. look at the work in person if at all possible
3. ask for references
4. what does their warranty cover?

The clearguard job on the front of my 993 came out awsome! Premier did a great job of custom covering the RS splitters and the turbo-s ducts. Not an easy task! Nice job guys and thanks!
