Default How to remove fog light assembly?

I bought the whiter fog light bulbs from Hoen. According to the owners manual, you insert a credit card next to the inboard side of the fog light assembly to release the assembly so that you can change the bulbs. When I do this, the assembly does not seem to release and I don't want to force it.
Has anyone removed the fog light assembly? Is there a trick to doing it?
Thanks.

I presume the "credit card " you are using is the thicker card supplied with the car, not the American Express card ;-) It takes a little finess, but the light assembly does come out rather easily once you get the supplied card in the right spot.

Jerry,
You may have identified the problem. When I looked in my delivery packet, I did not find the "supplied" card. I figured a credit card (expired) would suffice. I guess I'll stop by my dealer and get the right card. Is it much thicker than a standard credit card? Maybe I can just "double up" credit cards in the interest of expediency.

I changed to Hoen and just followed the instrcution on page 277 of the Owner's Manual - worked just fine - no tricks - once the card pops it out, you just have to maneuver the assembly out.

My "card" was in the owner's manual case where the salesman normally puts a business card. It is thicker than a normal cc.

My card also came with the owner's manual.

Thanks guys!! Thicker is better. Worked like a charm. Took all of five minutes to do both sides.
Thanks again.

I have no direct 997 expirence to relate but I got agressive with a fog lamp once in a few cars back and melted/scorched the reflector because; 1) it was plastic, 2) there was no way to vent the extra heat generated. What wattage are stock vs. after market? No cold water - just curious.

The Hoen bulbs are the same wattage as OEM - they just have a "whiteness" that matches the headlamps.

Hey Tom, how do they look now? Brighter, closer to true HID lamps?

That's one thing about the fog lights that drive me nuts is the color.

Thanks!

Yes, very interested in how they look.
Oh, and where is the best place to get them?

To All,
They look great. In my garage, I didn't notice any increase in brightness, but the color is exactly what I was looking for. Very close to the color of the Xenon's rather than the 'yellow" of incandescents.
I bought the "997 Kit" from Hoen and installed all three lamps. The side marker bulbs look nice too. No more amber showing under the lens. The lens now has no color when the side marker bulbs are off, but lights up amber when the bulbs are on. $54 plus shipping for the kit and I am very happy with the results.

I did the Hoen fog lamps (H8) and high beam (H11) to better match the bi-xenon low beams. They look a lot better.
