So, are you getting a painted center console to replace the stock console?

I found this image which shows all the parts for the center console. I think this might help other members who are planning to do center console painted or short shifter installed.

I always liked the look of the painted but have no idea how the clear coat will hold up over time, ie will it look great today and 3 years from now look bad. I know Eric does great work but paint is paint.

Well...i would think the painted console should hold up just fine. The exterior of the car takes much more abuse...being exposed to the elements and it holds up just fine if you take care if it properly. i doubt anything will happen to it in 3 years of normal use. It you claw it all the time then maybe not. Absolute worst case scenario you get it repainted in 10 years if you sill own the car.

It will hold up FAR better than the exterior. We have painted consoles in some cars over 6 years old, and they look like they were painted last week.

That said, if some driver wears too much jewelry, or is careless with their personal items, they could mar the finish just like they would if it was unpainted.
