I've been scouring all the online ads I can find for months, looking for either a speed yellow or guards red 05 C2S with black interior. The more I search, the more I realize that 85% of the cars available are silver! Were there only 20 cars built in 05 in those colors? Sorry; just frustratred. Never thought it would take this long to find one.
I had the same frustration when buying new. In July there was only one red C2S sitting at a dealer in the whole country! But there were lots of silver cars! Good luck, you will find one.
That's funny Chris; I was saying the same thing about Black... Red/Blk is a beautiful combo and I don't know if it was here or the other forum, where someone got what sounded like a great buy on a R/B 05-S for $65K in SoCal. The easiest way to isolate colors is - like at cars.com - is to click on 'color' at the top of the page of listings. It re-shuffles them into color groups: you see my comment about black is justified. From, memory, there are not many Reds period. ...unless, once sold they never leave home?
If you run into a loaded, Seal Gray 'S' - with something other than Gray interior...especially Brown. I'd love to hear about it. "Have cash - will travel".... I'll keep you in mind if I see a Red outside the obvious places.. Good hunting.

When I was searching for my Porsche, a 996 rather than a 997, I ran into the same thing. It "seemed" to me that 70% of the cars were either black, silver or gray. I call them the "dime a dozen" colors.
I was looking for a Midnight Blue with a gray interior (I don't like black interiors) but after 4 months of exhaustive searching, ended up getting a Lapis Blue with Graphite Gray interior with deviating Metropol Blue carpet, which is a relatively unique combination.
One of the reasons that black, silver or gray (B/S/G) are so prominent is that they are "safe" colors for dealers to order, because they know that those cloors will sell. One could speculate that if dealers would order more cars in colors other that B/S/G, those other colors would become more popular and would become "safe" colors, too. I guess we will have to wait a few years for the B/S/G cycle to diminish in favor of other, more interestng colors.

Wetstuff - Here are a couple of Seal Gray cars I found. Most have the Cocoa leather interior, but I did list a Slate Gray with a Sea Blue interior. You didn't mention if you were looking for a Coupe or a Cab, so I listed both.
On most German cars( Mercedes, BMW, Porsche) , silver and black seem to be the most popular of colors. I like Silver because it always looks good and stays clean even when dirty . I like Guards Red and my first ever Porsche was an '85 944 in Guards Red many years ago. The only problem was it attracted way too many cops
I think part of my problem has been that I found a couple of cars and waited for them to drop in price. Both got into to the high $60's and sold before I could get a chance to make an offer on them. The car looks beautiful in silver, but as this is going to be my first Porsche, I want it to be exactly what I want. I think a lot of the members here can relate to that.
Tim: Thanks for the leads... The first one has been rotated on Ebay for at least a month. It's a good car - damn close to perfect - but it has rims off an '03 Escalade (South Beach influence?) and they won't take them off... The second and third are Cabs and VERY dear. After the Boxster, I'll be happy with a sunroof.
Chris: I'll call him and see what all's on it... There's the perfect 05-S in New England but the fellow thinks it's Spring 2001 for what he's asking.
MHC2S: I get Auto. Production and Design Mag. and in an article a couple of months ago, one of the major paint suppliers (forget which..) mentioned that Silver is still the #1 consumer choice with a coming trend to more Earth Tones.
To my taste, the company that has the best color palette is Aston-Martin.
Hell, my little Ford Escape work/surf truck is Yellow. I'm still scratching my own head about that one?! My wife wears a Burka if she comes to the beach with me.
Tim: Forgot #4. I saw it last week but didn't tell my wife; it's what our Boxster looks like now and I want a change ... tho' she'd be happy.
Chris: I called: Sold.
Oddest thing: when I dailed the number, rather than a ring I got PINBALL WIZZARD by the Who. Never having that happen before; I redialed and got the same thing ... then the guy picked up 20sec later. Computer phone numbers? Certainly offputting the first time. ...how 'bout mic'ing your 911 and have it answer the phone for you?
Chris: There's two Guards Red-S's in the PCA listings... Ad#1398 in KY with 16,000mi ..and #14355 in AZ with 5,800mi. both seem to have a fair bit on them. If you're not a member, I can simply cut/paste the listings for you.
There's a Slate or Atlas w/terracotta interior...but, it's an 06 with 600mi on it. Says 'needs to sell'...but he's never get his $93k list down to my territory. Generally, it appears these depreciate at about $10k a year with most options simply thrown on the fire.

Jim - in my search on Porscheusa.com (looked for '05 & '06 MY cars) I did see a couple of 997S that were Arctic Silver with the Cocoa interior. I don't know if that would interest you or not, but I thought I would mention it.
The answer is simple... Porsche's are only supposed to be silver. There were never any midnight blue, or speed yellow 550's or 356's... Guards red was worn out in the 80's... I'm just giving you a hard time...well maybe. I had a speed yellow car once, and I all ever heard were the jokes about what it means when a guy buys a yellow car.
