Tim: I'll go back and look... IF Silver, I'm waaay partial to GT Silver. There's a very nice GT/Blk in Miami that I even had a check drawn for, but it would not be a good color for my wife. It's interesting what she and I think looks good - we met, back when, because we were both BMW 2002 people, so she likes cars..just different tastes in presentation.
ChrisF: (noted ...sorry other Chris) There's a Red/Tan in FL on Ebay. It also has been relisted a number of times.. I can't tell much about it because the dealer runs some sort of script that KILLS my Mac browser - to the point I have to 'force quit' and restart the browser and avoid his tar pit.
Re: Ebay - What kind of dweeb bids $35k on a $70k car?! Like they'd get it?..
I think it's stoopid to even have bidding on fairly new cars. We all can pretty much find out how much the real auctions sell them for..and among friends like this, you can be kept straight. Closing is usually a matter within a few grand; not some fantasic bid-buy you got on a 911 while you were looking for a '96 Kia.

Never thought it would take this long to find one.

Looking for black interior. Have seen the red/beige one already. There is also a beautiful well priced metallic red/tan that just came up for sale. I love the ext color but I'm having a hard time with the beige int. Maybe I'll crack

German racing colors - white and later, silver. German cars look best in those colors just like Ferraris look best in red and British cars are most handsome in green.

Silver, eh ... well, in the last 3 years we've purchased 3 new silver cars.
Yeah, there are lots of silver vehicles out there aren't there? Must be a reason, eh. Silver must be one of the most popular colors ... presently.
Silver cars show off the cars lines better than most other colors. Silver is very EZ to keep clean. Matter o'fact, I think I hand washed my Titanium Silver M5 2 months ago. Still looks great. And, my SigOh's new E350 4matic has never been hand washed. Nearly 3 months and it's parked out of the garages. Still looks terrific.
I guess there are other colors to choose from ... red, black, white (had 2 Porsches in white ... great color), yellow, blues, and the various greys (grays?). Did I forget green? Not a good color for a 911, IMO.
Red and yellow are 'arrest me, officer, colors'. The black(s) are just so damn difficult to keep looking great close up. Blue? Most are near black ... same/same problem as well as swirls, dust, dirt, yada, yada.
That leaves white, silver ... and the various greys. BTDT with the white and silver .... so, I went with the new grey color. Atlas? Forgot what color it is. Darker than seal, tho. I'll see in a couple months.
Whatever .... At least it's not SILVER!

with respect to color, the nicest 997 I have seen (based on photos) is still this one, Baltic Blue:

..........I hadn't noticed before, but this one appears to have a slushbox. The first one is pretty old: it's either gone, or he's VERY modivated. (I bet he didn't like what the dealer offered...)

wetstuff: could you get me either a phone or email on the first one? If it's not sold, I'd like to inquire. The 2nd one is a no go due to the tip. Thanks for your help.

I found it impossible to find a black 997s cab at any dealer in Florida. My dealer had to do a dealer trade. Everything was silver or gray. Could not find red or yellow either.

I just hope I don't do something stupid like settle for a Cayman S.
Thing is, there are hundreds of those lying around. Amazing to me that the prices haven't started adjusting given how many are sitting on dealer lots.

The answer is very simple. Silver is the International race color for Germany. White with blue stripes is the USA int. colors. There are more silver Pcars because of this. Red is Italy's, by the way....thus all the red Ferrari's. Hope this answers your question.
