DME Log Data Interpretation Help Requested
I am pursuing a pre-owned 2005 997S that is out of my area, so I'm doing my preliminary investigation via email and fax. I have the DME log printout, but am having a little trouble interpreting it. I wonder if some more knowledgable members might be able to help.
I have two basic questions.
1. The first section of the log is "Number of Ignitions", and then range 1, range 2, range 3, range 4....etc. Can someone give me a rough idea of what this is. (If it's any help, the specific numbers are range 1: 402, range 2: 84, range 3: 24, range 4: 3.. and the rest are zero.)
2. Also, I have the sticker of the car. It doesn't list PASM as standard equipment (or as an option). Is this something that should be shown on the sticker for 997S since (I thought) it was standard equipment.
Any help with these issues (or other general advice) greatly appreciated.

I have been learning about the Ignitions Type 1 & 2 on the 996, and am aware that the 997's newer Motronic system breaks it out into 6 ranges. It appears that Range 4 is grey area... Will any readings within 'Range 4' void the engine warranty?
That would certainly be something that I'd want to know before buying a used 997...

Thank you all very much for the information. I have been able to verify that the car has PASM, so it must be something that's not on the sticker as drmatura suggests. That seems kind of odd since other similar features, like PSM, airbags, etc. and even trivialities like Illuminated Vanity Mirrors are noted on the sticker as included standard equipment.
I will try to find out more about the over-revs indicated by the DME readout this week, but any more advice from members is welcome. 94Speedster makes a good point about the warranty. I spoke with someone who knows way more than me about P-car engines and he says that the range 4 over-rev number (3 in this case) is no big deal since (he thinks) it refers to the total number of spark ignitions where the engine was in that gray area range, and that's not enough to be troublesome. But the "some damage" description for range 4 over-rev is worrisome I suppose.
Thanks again
