Default TPMS - Calibration

I have just over 400 miles on my 07 997 S Cab and have set the pressure to 33 front/39 rear cold. The only problem is that tpms shows 33 right 30 left on the fronts and 42 right 40 left on the rears. Any thoughts/suggestions?

well........... make sure that it is set to the proper tire size and tire type...........also make sure that the load is set properly and then............... set the screen to tire pressore +/- and adjust the tire pressure ill they read 0 and dont worry about it anymore....if you get low it will tell you

Sadly, that is one of the side effects of having TPMS,--one more warning to ignore. It is designed to not allow you to ignore it!

I've been investigating TPMS quite a bit lately and have a $75 air gauge to keep track of its readings. The short story is that Porsche admits that it has a margin of error of +/- 4 psi and that it should be used as a guide for serious tire pressure loss, but not real-time readings.

With that said, if you are lucky enough to have all 4 calibrated right (which Porsche can't do for you) then the different PSI can be normal due to heat, turning, etc...

My own experience is that my fronts are off by 2 to 3 psi and the rears are off by 4 to 6 psi.

Target Tire pressures might be able to be changed by a tech via PIWIS.

The OEM for the system is BERU. http://www.beru.com/english/produkte/tss.php

Here is a link to their PDF brochure for sytem calibration

Just a FYI,

I was watching MotorWeek over the weekend and Pat Goss was discussing TPMS types and calibration. One comment that I thought was interesting was that if TPMS is installed on a car from factory, then it is illegal to disable or remove it. Aftermarket add-ons can be removed without any ramifications. I haven't confirmed wether or not this is true nor if this just applies in Maryland, where the show is taped.

Thank you MJones too! I downloaded all the documentation! I've been looking for something like this for some time now!

I've played around with the calibration instructions that MJones posted and they seem to be valid (albeit confusing since the images are in German). Now I just need to repeat the calibration process when the tires are cold.

NOTE: If you do it, I noticed it took about 15 minutes of driving for the system to "learn" the new settings so you'll get an error message for quite some time before it sorts itself out. Don't freak, it will resolve itself eventually - just keep driving.
