Default Fair Price on this new '07 C2S??

Getting ready to make a big step up from my 1988 951 to a new 997 and my first new Porsche after having 6 or 7 older cars over the years.

Would appreciate feedback on what a fair price would be for the following car (which is in the NYC metro area):

2006 Porsche Carrera S, brand new
GT Silver with Cocoa full leather interior
342 - Heated Front Seats
XSC - Porsche Crest in Headrest
XRR - 19" Carrera Sport Wheel
XLF - Sport Exhaust System
XCZ - Sport Shifter
M6C - Cocoa Floor Mats
C02 - U.S. Standard/Emissions
680 - Bose High End Sound Package
670 - Navigation for PCM
446 - Wheel Caps with Colored Crest
P15 - Power Seat Package
692 - Remote CD Changer (6 Disc)

The car lists for $99,585. What should I offer the dealer?

Thanks for any advice.

Pete

Default Sorry - it's a new 2006 C2S, not a 2007

Sorry for the typo. The car is a leftover 2006 model.

At least 10% off. Other guys should be able to comment on market conditions in NYC.

Winter is coming . . . a sale at lower margin is a lot better than carrying charges for a dealer.

I forget,--what is a 951? Is that like a 944 Turbo?

(Talk about an obscure model number)

Offer 86.5. Damn near his actual cost. 07's are here and '06's are dropping. Is the car equipped the way you like it?

What he said!

That is a nicely set-up car.

Yeah, I like the equipment. In a perfect world I'd swap the CD changer for the phone module and I wish it had Sport Chrono (I actually like the enhanced throttle response). But otherwise I love the color combo and other equipment. I was thinking of trying to get it for $88-89K. If $86.5K is their cost they would still be making a decent margin.

I think you are dead - on with your price expectations. Offer 86.5 but expect to end up somewhere around 88 - 89. If they won't do it, walk away and buy a 2007.

Our cars are very similar in setup. I agree the 10% figure is what you should be shooting for. Good Luck.....GR

The dealer offered to sell me the car at $90K. I have bid him $89K and am planning to sit tight there for now. He claims he is also giving me $2K "over allowance" on my trade (I'm trading in a BMW 3 series), but I think his trade price is on the market and not in my favor. Hopefully they will take it.

You need to ask yourself what you are trying to proof. $1K is neither here nor there, and iif you want the car and value your time, go for it and leave everyone with a good taste in their mouth. Sell your car privately, if you have the courage of your convictions! Otherwise why nickel and dime?
