Question about paint to sample...
So I'm just kind of curious, but in 40 years, if you have a unique car, that the color say, matched your tie when you bought it - will they be able to tell if the car's been sitting in a barn or something and has been repainted etc etc etc? I mean would Porsche put the exact colour mixture on file for records?
I'm just kind of curious I suppose, as to just how a car would be labelled. Oubviously on the colour plate it would say 'special paint' or something to that extent, but would there be any more quantifiable way of uncovering what it may have been?
Just curious.

Brett,--This is true for the last several years but I doubt that their records are that complete going back into, say, pre'65 cars. (I think we give them a little too much credit).
that's what I figured.
I wonder how complete dossiers are though and whether say, a special red paint to sample early 356 would just be called ' red' or something of that nature on the colour code.
Anyone know exactly how far back the dossier goes?
