Would any of you consider buying a service demo that has over 6K miles? They are offering $15K off MSRP, which is about $5K less than a non-demo examples I've seen.
Thanks and hopefully I wil have a Porsche by this weekend.

No. Not one person that has driven any of those 6k miles has given a crap about that car.

Ed - so, what exactly is a "day in the life" of a service demo car? Is it a loaner for people having work done on their P-cars? Or is it an "executive-driven" car? Regardless, you need to know more about the history before you make a decision...
I'd think that $15k off MSRP is a starting point, as I got $9K off my new C4S (14 miles) back in February of this year... also, what's the warranty status? Are they setting the in-service date to your date of purchase, or the original in-service date?
I'd ask to see the output of PIWIS, also - any hard over-revs on that puppy?
Don't be too easy on the dealer... you need all the data to make a solid choice. It's your money until you hand it over - remember that!
Good luck!

Good points all of you. I was leaning the same way. No to the demo. Most of the dealers are topping their discounts at about $10K regardless of the MSRP. Must be some magic number. The 07s are already here and they don't seem to want to deal any more than earlier in the year.

Ed, according to a post here yesterday, their gross margin runs around 12.5%, and their markup is approx. 14.5%. Options cost the dealer about 85% of sticker price. So, the $10k number is probably as far as they'll want to go... and that demo car would be a good deal if you can reset the in-service date and pass a PIWIS review.

I would consider it, IF.....
1) the car had the right options for me,
2) was the right color,
3) the output of PIWIS checked out OK with NO hard over-revs,
4) the tires are in very good shape,
5) CPO warranty is INCLUDED in that price (or whatever lower price you may get).
