Rear-ended! #@!!#@$%!!!!!
So sorry to hear of the accident Teddy. The car will be mended and will be back to its full glorious state in a few weeks. As you know it could have all been so much worse. You are all uninjured and thats what matters. Sure it's upsetting but say a few prayers of thanks too.
The car will be fine soon.

that sucks. I assume insurance is going to pay for it so if I were u I would have the car towed to the best place within 100 miles... with a good tow company, of course. don't follow the dealer because they might have a different motive to steer u somewhere. If u really trust the salesman then OK but it would be better to learn from a past customer of a body shop taht doesn't have their hands out...
The best news is that guy is going to NEVER ever want to hit a Porsche again! (His insurance will hit the roof). Glad you're okay. One thing I have learned over the years,--man made the Porsche, and man can put it back together.

>>>The most puzzling thing, after waiting over an hour for a state trooper to arrive, was he only completed an accident report. He didn’t give the guy a ticket. Even after the driver told the trooper it was his fault, that he was reaching for something on the floorboard, and that I was stopped behind other traffic. <<<
“Teddy Bear”, a comment on tickets in NJ. Eight years ago I had the unfortunate experience of being involved in a multi car (3 cars) accident on 287 in NJ. What made it worse was that I was the last car. Seems that the first car stopped suddenly in rush hour traffic while going 55 mph. When the woman in the first car was questioned, she admitted to stopping abruptly because she was nervous. The car in front of me never hit his brakes and my 6 day old BMW 540i needed about another 5-10 feet to stop. The State Police responded to the accident and I was not issued a summons at the scene. Three weeks later I received a ticket in the mail for reckless driving (5 points) and a lawyer’s letter stating that I was being sued. I contacted the State Troopers barracks to find out why I was receiving the ticket in the mail three weeks after the accident. I was told that in the State of NJ (I live in NY) you have up to 30 days after and accident to request an investigation into the cause of the accident. If during that investigation it is determined that someone should have received a ticket than one is issued. Was told that rear end accidents are caused by either a) not paying attention or b) following to closely. Either of these causes is considered reckless driving and that was the reason for the ticket. In my case the woman in the first car who caused the accident had her attorney request the investigation to support her case.
“Teddy Bear” if you believe that the guy that hit your car should receive a ticket than you can request that the State Police investigate this accident. I was told that in cases of rear end accidents no investigation is done and a ticket is issued.

Very sorry to hear this one Tedder, I just noticed this post. Glad to hear that you are ok. Yes NJ is screwed up when it comes to tickets. About 16 years ago I was exiting a shopping center parking lot in my old 944 going 10-15mph when a women driving her Toyota between 2 parked cars T-boned me. No ticket was issued to her since it was on private property
The woman did $7,000 worth of damage to my '85 944. A body shop in Rahway, NJ fixed like new. I kept it for a few more years and then sold it. So I do feel you pain.
There's a large Prosche shop up in Rockaway, NJ that is very close with the NJ Chapter PCA called Powertech. Give them a call( 973-586-3210) and ask for Mike. He will know of a good Porsche body shop in Northern NJ. He workes with body shops all the time for his customers that track their cars and have accidents from time to time.
