I'm looking at an early build '05 2S tiptronic, sport chrono, PCCB configured.
Are there any issues with early build '05 997 2S's?
Thanks.

There's a service bulletin for early Tiptronics; if it is affected the transmission will be (or should have already been) replaced.
Mine failed before the recall was issued. Guess it wasn't the only one...

I have an '05 997S and I've been one of many early 997 owners who've had to replace the front control module (it seems early versions were very suspectible to static discharge and using a microfiber cloth to buff wax was all it took to zap mine). Simple enough fix though and it's likely yours may have alredy been fixed.
My PCCB rotors seem to be holding up very well even with track use... no scoring and certainly no 80 grit sandpaper finish like the 996 GT3s w/ PCCB I see at the track. So far, it seems version 2 PCCB may really be fixed as Porsche claims.
Other than that, since everything is under warranty til '08, the only bad problems are the ones none of us yet know about. Here's hoping there's no future 997 equivalent to the 993 CEL problems or 996 RMS. Ooops, I've replaced one of those too... at 9k miles. Maybe once was just a fluke.

I'll inquire tomorrow as to the code, but is this about what the trans cost in your case?
I'd be very surprised if parts and labor are only $4.2k for a transmission replacement.
