I too have the musty smell. Had filter replaced.
Good advice on letting her run on just fan before shuting down.
Thanks

BTW, Einszett (1Z) makes some stuff called "KlimaKleen" that you can spray into your center vent to kill bacteria / fungi in the a/c system. Worked like a charm on my wife's Saab, which has been plagued with a musty a/c problem. You shouldn't need it in a new Porsche, I'd say.

Before I got married, my only request for dating was that she should be shellfish allergic! Fortunately my wife has a strong stomach - I think she also has suitable early warning before vomiting.
You guys just can't believe how nasty that clam vomit was...and I of course was a gentleman about it.

Wondering if this is something that requires a service visit.
If you are still getting the smell with the recirc on, then it could be a compressor oil leak somewhere in the evaporator. I had an oily smell coming from the vents of an 04 MB 500; a sensor gun was used which they pointed at the AC vents with the AC and fan on, it immediately registered a leak which was eventually traced to the evaporator. I'm not sure about the 997 but on most cars the evaporator is in the dash and requires the enitire dash and console to be removed.

Default any update on this issue?

My C4s with 700 on the odom is emitting the same kind of "new plasticy-chemical" odor. It’s just not going away. I've blasted the heat and cold air respectively, for lengthy periods of time. No help!

Any thoughts?

Yes, I have similar problem. Not musty but chemical. Almost
objectionable sick pungency that makes me uncomfortable.
800 miles on car.

Also - get some Auto Febreze, and spray onto your cabin air filter, and into the cabin air intake while the air filter is out. This also helps kill any bacteria in the system that could cause musty smells.

Chris.
+1 OR the AC should be off the recirculation setting a couple of miles before your park.

A new MB I had suffered from this malady and it was caused by the evaporator drain pan not being able to drain the condensation properly therefore causing mold to build up; ever since it was replaced there was never a problem again and no need to do anything to prevent it from occuring again.
