Default PSE question...again!

Sorry, sorry, sorry...

I know this topic has been covered before, but I just unplugged the orange plug and my car sounds fantastic! But I did a thread search on this topic and somewhere, someone mentioned that doing this will result in a CEL (mine hasn't yet)... I can't find an explanation on this forum, so please can someone explain this? Why is there a CEL when you unplug? Does this cause some permanent damage? If there's a CEL, should I just plug it back in? Then when can I unplug again?

Thanks!

Jimmy

No damage, no CEL - urban myth.

I've had mine unplugged for nearly 3k miles and no problems and no CEL. I plugged it back in for a day and couldn't believe how much less satisfying the car sounded, even with the switch on. I think PSE sounds 20% better at all RPM's with the wire unplugged than it does with the wire connected in any mode.

I blew out the baffles in both mufflers with the switch unplugged. Replaced by Porsche under warranty, no questions asked.

Is it possible that your original mufflers were defective?
