Default New Porsche Buyer - 997 v. 997S - UPDATE: POLL before I pull trigger on Monday

Ok all. Went to another dealer today and found the salesguy/dealership I'm definitely going with. Non-pushy and helpful...can you believe it?

Here's what I'm planning to get:

Arctic Silver or Atlas Grey / Black Std Leather
(I'm leaning toward the silver)
Power & Heated seats
Bose
Bi-xenon
TPMS
Navigation

I plan to take what's in stock either at my dealer or whereever he can locate one nationally that has these options at a minimum.

Poll #1: Do I pay extra $7-8K for S version or bank it as a reserve for speeding tickets? No plans to track the car. This is my weekend excursion car. Either way - this is a monster upgrade from the Audi A4 I had before.

Poll #2: Am I missing any other "must-have" options?

I'M SO EXCITED TO GET A 911! ULTIMATE DREAM FOR SOMEONE LIKE ME WHO GREW UP WITH ZERO MONEY.

My 2 cents: S

Upgrades are obscene on Porsches. If you even have the slightest thought of maybe almost possibly kinda wanting the performance of an S, do it now. The $7-8K is sales tax.

Fenway - Arctic Silver is the ultimate stealth color for a 911... just my humble opinion. <g>

The "S" is a bargain, remember Bi-Xenons are standard, PASM, et al. Drive both before you choose.

Good luck, can't wait to see pics!

have you ever owned a car with black leather interior before? its brutal in the summer, I would never buy a black car or get black leather interior ever again - no matter how good they look.

Depending on his climate black interiormight be ok... plus he can get after market tints if need be.

Anyway fenway my 2cents would be to add self dimming mirrors and pasm... which then begs the question can you extend your budget and get the S? you're already spending ~2k for the xenons.

Agree with the previous comments about getting the "S".

Went through the "S", Cab/Coupe, C2/C4 decision before I bought my C2S. Best decision I made was to get the "S". Would highly recommend you spring for the "S".

Also agree the black leather is too hot.

The S is best and you'll be glad you did!

S, don't even think about it. Otherwise I wouldn't even bother.

So far....overwhelmingly S. Which is what my gut is telling me.

Never had black interior but I live in the northeast. But, silver/black combo looks awesome!

I went for the base Carrera...saw the S and liked the S but within my contraints...family, new house, and the fact that I already have another vehicle and was trading 2 others to sort of consolidate my stable of vehicles for the wife and my own sanity...I couldn't justify the extra $10-15k when my wife could use that for furniture or moving expenses or tuition for school. So I am happy with my base 997 so far...it's definately a step up from my 996!

Don't worry about the black interior so much as the outside of your car is light and it's not a cab. Plus, black interior hides scuffs, dirt etc best.

I purchased an '06 997 C4 artic silver with black full leather interior. S is sweet, but the base Carerra is one fine driving car. I don't track the car and the performance of the base Carrera fully satisfies my performance driving needs. Don't feel like you will regret not getting an S. I also really like the black interior with silver cars.
