Think "soft" luggage

I don't need no stinkin luggage, just throw clothes in the trunk...much more efficient and you will have room for an iron!!

Here's two options for you that I've tried on 996 and Boxster:

1) The trunk filling storage bin from Target/Lowes

It's a neat fit in the trunk, with just enough space for a pair of shoes or a laptop case down one side, and a jacket on top of the closed lid.

It's called the Rubbermaid Roughneck Storage Box - 18 gal

Huge storage, much better than a suitcase for in country travel - and great for hauling stuff around when you're not on vacation - I leave mine in the trunk all the time.

2) A proper suitcase - Zero Halliburton ZeRoller #ZHZR26

This is a serious suitcase, and a perfect fit in the trunk of the 996 or Boxster. (You may want to check the dimensions against the 997 trunk just in case)

Looks as good as the Porsche luggage, better made, and very durable.

You can shop online HERE

Been flying round the world with mine for 6 years, wouldn't trade it for anything.

Chris.

Default 911 luggage

I bought 2 25" duffles with wheels from lands end-one for the trunk-with room to spare and the other in the back seat-worked great

Another case I use in the 996 or Boxster trunk - suitable for electronics/cameras, or for people taking their stuff on an outdoor adventure where they need waterproof and rugged storage.

The Pelican 1610 Case (with built-in roller wheels and retractable handle) - is a perfect fit.

The military and police forces use these cases, they are extremely rugged, have an o-ring seal that keeps out all water, even when submerged.

They are watertight, airtight, dustproof, crushproof.

They can come with optional dividers for camera gear, standard cubed foam for custom storage, or empty for suitcase use, and are increadibly well made.

They also have a pressure purge valve, so can be placed in the hold on aircraft.

I use mine for the bulk of my camera bodies and lenses - there's probably not a better made case on the market.

Shop online for them HERE

Chris.

When I was picking up my Cabriolet in Zuffenhausen a couple months ago the customer service rep. was giving me a hand hauling my significant luggage to the car,--he remarked, "you did remember that you ordered a cabriolet, right?"

(I fit checked everything before I left the states at my local dealership).

There's another case by StormCase that's as good and the internal padding is lighter. I use them for my camera gear as well.

For the 997 I use soft bags. It's not the best car in the world to have heavy bags in. I have a roof rack and case as well for the heavier trips.

If so, do you have a duplicate sticker in your maintenance booklet?

Wow - they copied Pelican pretty well - I did a double take when I looked at their product shots!

What's the issue with heavy bags in the 997?

In the 996 it helps to counteract that slight 'light at the front' feeling over 100 mph!

Chris.

I'm currently 1200 miles away from my car. I'll check next week when I'm home.
