Perhaps more importantly is the facelift to the 997. Cars have been spotted with (relatively) minor front and rear changes. I would expect this for the 2008 model along with a bump in HP.
I will throw out 380hp for the Carrera S and 350 for the Carrera to keep it in check with current HP war that seems to be brewing and 400hp the minimum level of entry for 55-70k performance oriented cars.
I just cant see Porsche being fine with an E92 M3 that outperforms the Carrera S. Its going to take 380 hp to do that.
Im not 100% sure but historically the 'x' packages of the current model seem to be very close in HP to the following Carrera model (in todays case the Carrera S has similar power to last models 'X' pacakge).
2010 as 2011 model for major change sounds about right, complete with 3.8 liter flat 6 with 360hp and 400hp 4 liter perhaps. Or I can stop dreaming.
The E92 M3 is probably going to weigh in at around 3500 pounds. I don't think it will be doing any outperforming of the current 911.
The facelifted 997's will get a 17 hp bump to 342 and 372 in the S, this makes sense as the facelifted base car will still have less hp than a pre- facelifted S and the current 997 X package cars will still have more hp that the facelifted non X cars even with the increase, this way Porsche gets to raise the power and still keep current 997 owners happy...BTW the torque will probably not change very much if any

I think the new M3 will be on par performance wise with the M5 and M6 give or take a tenth of two in both 0-60 and 1320. On the 'Ring I think the new M3 will beat them all, especially if they come to market with optional carbon / ceramics.
Forget HP, think torque. The V8 will no doubt be much more generous vs. any 6 - flat or straight.
There are plenty of pics of that on the net already. But Porsche would be nuts to introduce it when they've just launched the TT and GT3. That's more likely an '08 MY introduction.

It will definitely be more than that...the E92 335i is 3,650lbs, and the M3 will have a larger motor, larger brakes, and stouter suspension. The E92 already uses a lot of aluminum, so there won't be any significant weight savings with exotic materials on the M3, and rumor is that it will have a mandatory sunroof like the 997. My guess is that it will be a porky 3,750lbs.

People may complain about Porsches gaining weight but nobody has porked up over the past 15 years like BMW.
Sorry, the 993 was available for Model Years 1995, 1996, 1997, and 1998 in the US. In Europe, it started a year earlier (cars were sold in late 1993 as 1994 models), but also ended a year earlier (996 started in MY1998 in Europe). It's possible that the 993TT"S" was sold in MY1998 in Europe also. Anyways, you won't find any 993 older than MY1995 nor newer than MY1998 for cars officially delivered to North America through Porsche...
LED tailights are coming with minor front and rear clip changes - think turbo look. No surprise really, they did it with the 996 and a refesh after 3 years is not abnormal for any car manufacturer (at least wheel changes, minor trim or lamp changes etc).
