Default Stone Grey with Linen (to sample) on eBay

Very nice, really makes me believe the 997 could be a luxury car in the sense of an Aston or a period Jag. Haven't thought that way since the first over the top luxury 993 Turbo S I saw (something you see in Silicon Valley or Saudi Arabia but practically nowhere inbetween...)

* pity about the sticker shock on this example ... give me a GT3 for that money ...

Interesting and nice interior but a bitch to keep clean! I know as I had a Lexus SC430 with Ecru interior which looks very close to this color.

I which I got to change my order to get the black wheels. I was late in a change and could not as it was locked into production.

I see the bidding ended on this.

Regards,
Deanski

The colors don't seem appropriate on the 997. It's like putting a saddle on a wild mustang.

A lot of money for that interior,--why didn't they put more stuff in leather?

I tend to agree, but I think this example on eBay is at a tangent to the "focused track weapon" -- it's a very respectable (in my humble) example of the "potent grand tourer" that Ford wants us to believe still exists in the latest Aston Martin -- and again, they've convinced me with the V8 Vantage. The new Vantage is no comparison to a lean 997S (and wildly more expensive) but imagine if you got a decent deal on a 997S X51 and lavished it with the opulence of this example with linen leather and a distinctive paint on its haunches?

Anyway, I think it's an interesting car to see and one that shows the 997 have an impressive range beyond the black/black with nothing configuration that some of us (me, at least) would choose just to be able to afford to get behind the wheel.

That's the first time I've seen leather A/C vents and that that style of EBrake, so that is pretty cool to see for real finally.

I agree though, it doesn't seem right for a Porsche (esp. one with that exterior) and I'd hate to have to keep it clean. Just your jeans and stuff will discolor the seats.

I know the guys at Euroclassics, and they do push the limits on inventoried cars, spec'd out to the edge, some color combinations from classic past years.

Check their site and inventory. Very nice stuff there.

No affiliation, just know some of the folks there.

A wet or damp leather coat or jacket would leave marks/colors on those seats, pretty as they look now. I think I like the black wheels with Seal Grey.

My opinion - ugly. I don't know who'd buy such a car. I hate those wheels. From a distance it looks like dirty white walls on the tires, and black carrera s rims? Yuck. The white interior looks like the inside of a coffin.

Two tone interior is always undesirable. Wouldn't have it on any car. Black wheels almost always undesirable. At least the wheels can be changed out.

Compared to other manufacturers' interiors, Porsche interiors are completely monotone; i.e., if you buy tan, EVERYTHING (seats, dash, headliner, carpets) is tan. The Porsche two-tone interiors (gray/black, terracotta/black, havanna/sand, etc) are actually closer to every other auto manufacturer's 'regular' interior colors. I think the two-tone option introduces variation and a needed respite from the regular monotone Porsche colors, but hey, just my two cents.

And yes, I have a two-tone interior

We had a Lexus that had a similar two tone interior, and it really is a bitch to keep clean. Looks great when new, but doesn't wear well.

l had to buy two sets of spare carpets for my wife's almost white RX330 interior.
