Weight difference 18" wheels/tiires vs. 19" wheels/tires
I purchased a set of 19" Sport design wheels with Michelin Sport tires. I was curious if they weighed more than the 18" Carrera stock wheels with the Continental Contis'.
I took off one of the 18" rear wheels - 54lbs. The 19" rear wheel - 58lbs. (I did not bother with the front wheels because they are the same width.)

You're right, but I really liked the look of these wheels and I could not pass up the deal. Subtracting the cost of new tires, the wheels were only $700.
I assume I'll get better handling.

Better handling comes with the lighter setup. Lower unsprung weight and less rotating mass. 19" is a fashion statement. Btw 18" is lighter than 19" even at same width. Threshold for feeling the difference is usually put at 16-18 lbs of weight reduction. Lets hear it for ceramics.
