Question An opening under the bumper chin.

I did the search thing and came up with nothing. This past weekend I noticed that there is a square opening under the left side (facing the car) of the bumper chin. Does anybody know what this is for? Should there be a cover for it like the tow hook opening.

Thanks for your input.

BTW, I have an 06 997 Carrera S.

There's no cover there. That's the hole necessary for the loudest possible sound of the horn to emanate.

No problemo. Too bad it wasn't something slightly more exotic, like a vent for the liquid nitrogen cooling system for the carbon fiber brakes.

I'm telling you guys, it's the induction system to the plasma/timewarp/universedistortion/continueum/thingymajobby.

Just don't stand infront of it.

Question

Speaking of mysterious openings -- any know what the small enclosed compartment in the front boot of 997 C4S's is for? I don't have the car here with me now, so I can't take a pic but it's a little more than half way up the luggage well, to the left. My dealer didn't know what this was for either, so I thought I'd ask you guys. If I'm not mistaken, the manual warns not to store anything inside as it could cause damage. Kinda weird really.

Are you speaking of the openable compartment in the trunk that is on the left side (as viewed from the front)? That would be the access to the remote CD player and the DVD navigational system. If neither was ordered it's just more storage space.

Edgy01-- I don't think that's the compartment I'm referring to. I have Navi but no CD changer. The openable compartment I'm referring to is in the boot on the US-spec passenger side (left if standing in front of the car facing the front windshield). It's probably just large enough to carry a small paperback book if it's placed on its spine. Again, I'm relying on my memory (what's left of it anyway) as the car is no where near at the moment.
