Did I miss a forum post or 2? Suncoast Porsche has a 997 satellite kit now available for the 997? (no more cayenne conversions?). Its listed on the website.

I don't remember seeing this...

Wow! I just called Suncoast and they swear that it is true! Factory parts, dealer install, the antenna goes under the plenum cowling ( where the wipers are mounted out of ).

YEAH! XM in the C4S!

"NOTE: If you have a Carrera 4, Carrera 4S, or Turbo, please contact us to verify fitment before ordering."

The AWD in these cars complicates the antenna placement a bit, the C2 is a bit easier.

BTW, same parts/design as the Cayenne kit from that old thread.

I called my local dealer and they said they would not install. They gave me the name of a local installer they suggest.

I wonder if there is an improved antenna?

I have the Cayenne Sirius kit installed in my C2S, but due to antenna location and that it was really designed for the Cayenne I get quite a few drop outs when I'm driving. Sometimes it's really bad.

I'd like to see the TIB and new part numbers for this "approved" kit for a 997.

Kit was approx $1300 and $600 for install for my satellite.

I hope there's more info to come!

Regards,
Deanski

I get lots of dropouts in my Cayenne. So I doubt the 997 kit is going to be any better.

DAMN!

Oh well, back to the drawing board PAG!

It's bad first thing in AM when satellite is low on the horizon and always bad by tree lined roads.

Man they need repeaters!

I only get dropouts at night with Sirius on my 997 install. I think its a Sirius thing. Not a Cayenne / 997 retro thing.

I am curious about the antenna and mounting option parts. Not that I would even tinker with it, but conceivably i would order everything except the actual receiver module to convert my retro into an actual.

Then again, I probably wont tinker with it again. It works and when I get drops at night, its a good excuse to listen to mp3's - orherwise - it would never come off satellite!

Yea, me too on the antenna. Good point on the Sirius dropouts. Maybe if they get this other satellite up it may improve.

Love having the satellite installed! Was well worth it... until the wife starts to bitch about the dropouts!

Still haven't found any TIB's on it. I'll see if the dealer got anything lately or if this is just another Cayenne kit sold as a "997" kit.

Would an install by someone other than a dealer void the warranty for the PCM system?

I know Gaudin here in Vegas will not install satellite either. They told me so the other day and also added they have never done one before.

There is an outfit in So. CA that installs these. However, it is not a dealership, and I am concerned about warranty issues.

Now why would a dealer refuse to install the kit? Do they have access to the TIB on install? If not, several dealers have installed this kit. Your dealer may want to reach out to them for assistance.
