Default Discount on 2006

Greetings, I am looking at finally making the leap into 911 ownership. What kind of discount is reasonable to expect on a new 997 that is sitting on the dealer's lot? I was thinking either a 4 or an S, but probably not both. I am in the CT area. Is 5% too much to ask for?

Thanks in advance!

For 2006, it is almost a year-end car now. I think at least you can ask for 5% or maybe a little bit more. It depands on what kind of inventory do they have. I got 4% off on a base 997 order car. Oder in Sept and took delivery before last christmas. Good luck.

The Charlotte, NC dealer has been listing $6K to $10K discounts on '06 Cabs in the newspaper. I don't know the MSRP for those cars, since they were not listed. FYI.

There is a new 997C4 Cab at Pioneer (in San Diego) sitting on the showroom floor with a big signed indicating $10,000 off MSRP. I beleive that is over 10% off MSRP.

You should be able to get a 7-10% discount on an 06' sitting on the showroom floor from some dealers.

If you are not buying the 2006 C4S Coupe, you should achieve a healthy discount, 5-10%+. If you are buying a Cab, the discount will be the greatest as there are more Cabs out there than anything else.

The C4S Coupe is the least available model, and most every dealer receiving their last cars for the year model 2006 will be in Black or Silver. There are about a half a dozen or so C4S Coupes on the boat or just on the ground at the dealers here on the West Coast. If you buy a C4S Coupe, I'd work the dealer hard. Most of the C4S Coupes have Monroney's of $100-$110K. Heck, for a few bucks (like 25-30Kish) you can order a new 07 997 TT. The C4S is a great car, but for the price and model year difference (06 or 07), I decided to pay more and get the Turbo. Just one man's opinion...

I got 5% off an '06 that I ordered in March. 5% should be no problem.

I ordered an '07 997S Cab from Danbury Porsche, and they gave me 3% off of MSRP.

I also ordered a car from Danbury Porsche. The Sales Manager (Chris Partelow) and my Sales Rep.( Mike Killeen) were excellent. They bend over backward to make sure your happy. I ordered an 06 and received a $2.5k discount.

I might have been able to save another grand or so, but wanted to deal with someone local if competitive. I dropped in one day around lunch with some error code problems unannounced. My salesman was eating and insisted on looking at it right away even though I urged him to finish his lunch. In minutes they had my car on the machine, verified their were no problems and reset the computer and I was off. I know that high quality service is expected when you drop some serious coin on a car. Most dealers forget this aspect, once the check has cleared. They also have a nice loaner car program. Good luck shopping. Even though the wait is painful and you can almost always do better with something on the lot. I would strongly urge you to order your car exactly how you want it. You won't regret it.

I'd try for 10% and expect to get close to 8% if you push hard...

PivotPoint, I've been dealing with Malachy Tracy. Very thoughtful bunch of guys at Danbury. I was tempted to purchase from their inventory, but decided it was worth the wait to order it the way I wanted. The car was built on June 1, and will be here in July or August. The wait is painful.

Thanks for the intel on Danbury. I live in Greenwich, so I was hoping to buy from them if they are at all competitive. Does anyone have any experience with New County or the White Plains dealership?

Thanks again!

I don't want to take away from anyone who feels like they got a good deal - so long as you're happy, that's what matters. However, if you are interested in aggressive pricing you should consider 5% the minimum discount you're willing to accept on a new car. Some dealers are more aggressive on existing stock, while others will give you a great deal on an order.

I researched between 60-100 reported deals on Rennlist before doing my own shopping, and I can give you the names of at least two dealers who will take care of you.

Pepe Porsche (white plains) is one of the most incompetant dealers - service department is alright, but management and sales are completely farked. Don't even get me started, just save yourself a headache and stay away from them.

Fairfield Porsche and Danbury are excellent places. Fairfield is particularly supportive, even tolerant of my track participation.

New Country Greenwich is typical of a greenwich dealer - all about $ with so so service.
