Default 2007 Order guide

I am planning to order 2007 C4 with Tip. My dealer seems very uncertain about the possibility of getting the Tip anytime soon. Seems like they have very low allocations of the Tip.

Any guidance from the senior members.

Also does anyone have any details on the 2007 changes.. prices, standard options, color changes etc.

thanks

That means one of two things: either he has lots of cars with Tip on the lot, or that PAG is restricting the number of cars to order with Tip because they are close to launching DSG. You should be able to go on line and see what stock the dealer has and how many are Tip.

what is DSG? How does it work differently from the TIP? is it SMG like? In other words, automatic with no TC, or something different? My dealer has no 07 order info yet. I also asked about SAT radio>

I understand that Porsche is restricting the tip to those people who have demonstrated that they are not whinners (er weiners?).

PDK is a dual clutch semi-automatic transmision similar to, but in some ways better than an F1 style transmission. It is a couple of years off but when released with make both the tip and 6-speed virtually obsolete.

Over sixty here. Whether from off the lot or by ordering, get the Tip you will not be disapointed. I have had many stick sports cars in my younger days. They were all lots of fun. Had to sell the last one when my left knee gave out. So, been there done that. With the traffic now-a-days it is harder to find a safe place to have fun with a stick plus it gets to not be fun what with the stop and go even on the interstate. Yes, some may say a stick is the only transmission to have in a sports car but who cares what they say. You are the one who has to live with the car. P-cars are fantastic either way.

That was my thought, too, although I think it's #1 and not #2. Sounds like the dealer is trying to get this guy into a 2006. If DSG/PDK was coming for 2007, I think we would've heard about it by now.

Yes, DSG is like SMG...a manual transmission, not an automatic with torque converter...but with two clutches in order to keep the next gear engaged for smoother transitions (when compared to SMG). It works amazingly well in various Audi and VW models currently available, with lightning-quick shifts but also uncanny smoothness in both manual and automatic modes.

I'm also ordering a 2007 C4 Tip and my dealer said that they only had two available spots for an August build for the C4 Cab. I don't know if the Tip mattered in that since he only mentioned the C4 Cab part. There were no July builds available for C4 Cabs.

Don't know.....August build could mean August 31 start date. Either that or I get the minor leaguers building my car.

I don't think it will it make 6-speed obsolete. Ferrari has been making F-1 since the late '90s and still makes 6-speeds because some folks won't have it any other way. (Same is true of Lambo). Makes sense how it will replace Tip.

Pugnacious,

That car needs the sport chrono too, it is fast becoming one of the most sought after options (according to my Dealer) and the fact it's a feature on the new GT3 as well, will help sway the holdouts.

I must say I agree - the car needs Sport Chrono and PASM. (It's a huge difference).

Sports Chrono is only necessary, IMHO, for the same people who believe exhausts and CAI each add 15 hp. Like the other add-ons, it is merely an illusion of additional speed and/or performance.
