Count down continues
Well, the countdown to picking up the car continues. On Friday I wrote a very large check and in return got the Monroney Sticker which is used to prove payment to the folks in Zuffenhausen. I feel like I'm finally going to see a car now! Let's see,--9 months and counting. Now down to 23 days!

Dan,
You have been one of the most patient waiters of all time! This custom baby you're getting is going to be sweet! Soon you'll be able to replace your blue 'swatch' avatar with the real thing!!!

Yea,--Dave,--it will be odd to actually have a picture of the CAR in there!

After close to 10 months of waiting once you finally get your car, I can certainly appreciate your username now, The Edgy One - the one on the edge of patience and sanity.

Jeff,
So far I have about 50% of my nights locked in and keeping the rest open for some flexibility.
Let's see, pick up the car in Stuttgart, north to Heilbronn (where I lived at one time), on to Heidelberg (visiting friends) and then south to Garmisch and the Zugspitz, Eagle's Nest, Salzberg, Austria, down to St. Moritz, then a couple nights in Cernobbio, Italy on Lake Como, then through Milan, Florence, Rome, Naples to Amalfi Positano, then a speed run back up to Bolognia, Milan, to Zermatt, then over to Lauterbrunnen, the Eiger, then via as many passes I can find to the Julier Pass (again near St. Moritz) and north to Savognin, Chur, the Bodensee and Konstanz, and then way back up into Germany (Ramstein, Kaiserslautern--where I used to live again) and then up to Wiesbaden (also where I used to live) and ultimately back through Heidelberg and on to Stuttgart for drop off. 3 weeks. I should easily log my 2000 plus miles so that I can try some higher speed runs on some of the little known autobahns that are generally clearer than most these days. Because of you guys here on the Rennlist I have picked up a HD minicam and a suction mount and will be shooting many sections of the trip. Stand by for home movies and stills.
No,--I really haven't done much planning yet. ;-)

Or the cattle shortage? No,--they planted those suckers about 40 years ago just for me!
