Something needs to be done with the dash. Here's how I would do it:
I would start off with how the BMW (I think) in that third picture is..RED seats, RED door panel inserts, but then take it a step further. As of now it looks unfinished, but throw in a little RED on the 997's "shelf"...not the dash itself, which IMO makes the car look too busy/80's, but the piece under it. Then add a FULLY RED steering wheel and RED centre console. Don't wuss out and "forget" the red shift boot either.
Try imagining that one.
More so, let's see someone try to PS that one!

Sadly in NA the Exclusve program is a joke.
If you lived in Germany or elswhere thru the Exclusive program you could do your interior as you like.
Late in the 996 life in the US you could specify different color seat panels for a pretty reasonable price:
Option Z111 Seat insert in deviating color $670
Option Z34 Deviating Carpet Color $390
Option Z108 Upper dashboard in dev color $215
Option Z109 Lower dashboard in dev color $165
In the 997 order guide there is an interior diagram for calling out different panels.
Wait long enough and the "Z" options may re-appear.
Here are a couple of current day interior variations.
Black w/grey inserts
Black w/grey altancera inserts
and a 996 with two-tone
