Default How safe are modern Porsches?

Check out this major wreck, seem like the two riding in the car survived and are up and about after the accident.

Good crumple zones, cockpit and back seats are relatively intact.

Looks like the engine decided to remove itself from the car though !

I'm confused. was that a Cab with a hard top on it or a Coupe? Sorta interesting that it seperated right at the top of the windshield......

The close up shows it's clearly a cab with a hard top.

Looks impressive...as mentioned above, the cockpit is intact, including the windshield...no reason the crash wouldn't be 100% survivable, assuming everybody is belted in.

Obviously we don't know exactly what happened, but the guardrail appears to have absorbed a lot of the impact(s); had the car hit a more solid object, the passengers may not have been so lucky.

That's an impressive crunch. It says loads about Porsche design.

Dan

997S Cab with hardtop coming! (I hope not that one,--reworked!)

You get a sense that a tire might have gone down by looking at the marks on the road in the 4th picture down. The barrier clearly absorbed a lot of energy, but the car still ended up on the opposite side of the carriage way which means the car must have been travelling at fairly high speed. They were VERY lucky to miss the bridge though. Another foot or two ahead and it likely would have been a different story...and they missed any other traffic that may have been close by.

In that same pic you can see the skid marks at the very top as the car slid into the guard rail. It then looks like the car spun around and bounced off after impact with the rail, dragging the four trails of dirt that you see there. The car then comes to rest about 200 yds ahead. The engine, having the most concentrated mass, looks to have continued past the car along the same side of the road.

Looks like the three gals got really shaken up, but otherwise unhurt.

I lived in Germany a few years. I remember driving to work each morning somewhere around 100 mph and being the slowest thing on the road.

That's just a minor stone chip, it can be repaired, if you follow OCBen's directions HERE >> https://rennlist.com/forums/997-forum/244537-repairing-small-stone-chips.html
