Default X-51 Available Again

Got a call from my dealer. X-51 is available again and my car was ordered today. It's been an anguished 2 months since I delivered my build sheet and downpayment. I'm pleased to say the build will begin soon and my car should be here by mid summer. I guess that makes me an official waiter now.

The Cab is staying. I commute about 600 miles a week so the 997 will replace my existing daily driver (Infiniti G-35 Coupe). The 98 Cab will continue on as a track day and sunny day specialist.

Thanks Ben. I don't know what the board would do without your witty comments and insightful posts and persistent smiley faces. With over 200 posts per month, I am in awe of your ability to scour the web for posts that don't meet your extraordinary standards.

Nearly 3000 posts in just over a year! That's evidence of a really special contributor. I enjoy the substance of your contributions and look forward to your thoughtful and insightful commentary.

Moved last fall from south San Jose. Any follow up on this should be by private message so the Rennlist police (aka OCBen) doesn't scold us.

Hey MC, you seem to be confusing me with someone else. I don't use smiley faces in my posts like you. It's actually sad that you can't even remember that exchange - oh well.

Here's something you should keep in mind. Those of us in the 997 community are usually on top of the latest information with respect to our cars. So chances are we have probably already heard about what to others is breaking news.

the entire rennlist forum of full of passionate enthusiats. matt has been a long time rennlister and his knowlege in p cars especially 993 has been invaluable to this community and his organized drives in SF Bay area was much appreciated.

we dont do a search on everything we post, i am sure matt was overwhelmed by excitement when he heard such good news and wanted to share it with fellow enthusiasts. i dont think that's out of line. and once matt gets acquainted with his 997S i am sure he will provide lots of good insights like he did in the past.

H20NOO - thanks for sharing your excitement about ordering your car with the Board. Good to see another long time Board member doing well and enjoying the friendly Porsche community.

I appreciate your points. And I have no doubt he is a fine upstanding Rennlister.

But this had nothing to do with doing a search before posting a thread. Once he had entered the 997 forum he would have surely seen near the very top of the list of threads a thread with an almost identical name, "X-51 Available." I have no doubt he was excited about this piece of information and in his excitement failed to notice that someone had beat him to the punch. No one is saying his post was the least bit out of line. If anything, it was an embarrassment to him. It certainly would have been to me.

But for him to lash out at me for bringing this to his attention, might be regarded as being out of line, instead of just saying "oops, didn't see it." I suppose if I had used smiley faces in my post, as he likes to do, that would have helped him understand where I was coming from.
