I read some news stories that Maxima Xenons are interchangeable with the older cars and that some people had their Xenons stolen two and three times. I wonder what our 997 Xenons fit other than 997s?

These things show up on Ebay. A few years ago someone in the San Francisco bay area saw a suspicious set from a 996 and notified the police. As I recall, they weren't very interested.

the Lexus RX330 also have the same problem. Some owners acutally tried to bring a lawsuit against Lexus for not having a better designed headlights to prevent thieves.

13 in one swoop and no one gets caught? Are the headlights that easy to lift off these cars?

This has happened to me 3 times (one with my boxster S, one with my 996cabrio and lately on my 997S)...very annoying and expensive. Apparently they look for porsches because they are extremely easy to steal...they do it in a matter of seconds, and then they use some parts for other type of cars. The bottom line is that this ******** do thousands in damage to earn a couple hundred dollars selling parts on the street.

Okay, I'm starting a new business called, "P-car protection". Will guard your P-car while parked... you have without worries. Armed Marine will kill anyone that comes close to your P-car. No password... Shoot first ask questions later!

Seriously, I thought they fixed this F@#O-en issue on the new 997. This is not good folks!

Now we can’t leave our beloved P-car unattended... this sucks big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It appears to be something unique to the Florida area,--right?

Do I need to put a lock and key to these things? (Or park it face in against a brick wall?)

Could be stealing them to use on a 997 look alike kit for the 996 that you see for sale on ebay.I bet the headlamps are the most expensive part of the conversion.......

I wonder what kind of damage they do when they steal the headlights? I was talking with the owner at wheelsperformancecom and he said that there was a alarm system you could have wired up to your headlights. He has had his 997 lights stolen. I didn't ask him more about it, because i didn't think this was a big problem. I guess I was wrong..

sometimes they damage the paint and the bodywork around the opening as they use screwdrivers to pry them out... but a lot have become professionals and have had practice, and have no problem doing no damage now.
I saw a guy who had his left taillight on a 2003 thunderbird stolen, same idea.

If the headlights are so valuable, why don't they just step up and take the whole car? Do me the favor, I don't think I want to see it at all after it has been molested such a way. - HUMOR.

Alright, alright. I will not post pics of any mutilated 997s.
