Default Problem with towing.

I track my 997s and use a trailex trailer to get her to the track. My problem lies with the small piece of plastic that hangs vertically down from the car just ahead of the front tires. When I tighten down the webbing it bends this small piece of plastic forward and obviously stresses it. Finally one broke and just paid $190 to replace it.

Does anyone know what purpose it serves? I would imagine it is there for a reason. Can it be trimmed or simply removed?

If anyone knows please help. My mechanic did not have a clue.

It's all about aero in front of the tires.

There is a reason why they put it there, I'd leave it

Many cars have this feature I think it's there to minimise the forward projection of spray when passing through standing water and the risk of stone chips.

have you tried to cross or x the straps ?
are you using wheel straps
if so how long
you can change the lenght to help move the strap away from the plastic

Funny I've never had that problem. I guess it's because the way the straps hook to my trailer below the ramps. The straps don't even come close the car.

Thanks everyone.

I failed to mention the specifics. I have a 2004 Trailex and I use wheel straps. I have tried both straight and cross/x the straps.

It seems to work best just straight which is how I go.

Perhaps longer wheel straps might help.

Anything else to help?

Chris
