Interesting but not sure if that's preferable to the factory roof rack setup.
Your friend should investigate adapting this design to the 981 Cayman / Boxster. The 981 Cayman in particular eliminated the roof rack bolts found on the 987/997 models.
Stock rack with dual rocky mount fork bike racks, Thule wheel holders as well. Thinking of buying the Porsche version of them as they are actually a good deal online ($125 each) to avoid taking my wheel off each time.
