A number of people on this forum (including me) believe that the clear markers look better on any color car...and especially on lighter color cars where the orange stands out more.

Clear side markers are legal in the US as long as the bulbs still light up as amber.

I also use it as a simple and quick, yet admittedly not necessarily accurate, way of determining if the driver of the p-car next to me is an enthusiast or not.

The clear side markers get rid of the "pumpkin" look, and since the bulbs are orange, they are legal in the US. Some guys even go the extreme measure of getting silver coated bulbs, so they don't have the orange color inside the lenses. When illuminated, the silver coated bulbs give off an orange light.

Man that is about as beautiful a car as I have ever seen. If I were ordering right now that is exactly the car I would build. Congratulations. Love those wheels.

The orange versus clear marker craze is one more way for Porsche to make a few more dollars off either you or your dealership. They provide no tangible benefit. Many years ago Porsche pulled this same scam with the 911's REAR taillight lenses. European lenses had the yellow lens over the turn signal lights, while the USA version had red lenses over the turns. For some mysterious reason the USA Porsche enthusiasts got the same wild idea that they had to have the same appearance as on the European version. Thus was born the lens envy we see perpetuated today on the 996 and 997 cars!

congrates!!! great car....I agree that the 997coupe looks great in silver...almost bought a silver coupe before i bought my black cab...i do think the bose sounds better than the standard stereo as a did a back to back one day..for a porsche or a sports car, it sounds pretty good to me and has enough power for clean sounds even with the revs high and the top down...

On some colors - such as white, yellow, red, and even black - the ambers really look good and are a preferred look, IMO. But on others such as Artic Silver, Seal Grey the clears look best. But to each his own, really. It's purely personal preference. I think the ambers look best on a white car.

Squareloop:

I bought a pair of Porsche OEM clear markers with amber bulbs from Eric at BumperPlugs. $30 for the set.

My C4S is also Arctic Silver with the Sport Designs... great minds think alike, eh?

I will say that the clear markers look much better on the Silver cars, IMHO. They match the headlights and front markers and (as someone stated above) remove the "pumpkin" look.

Good stuff. I'll send a pic when I get a chance.
