part of my dyno results
at the wheels with only evo intake
hp = 312.44
torque = 260.76
car was cold - sat for over an hour
temp = 81 F
humidity = 26%
flashed it and put headers on
did not have time to get the car cold again
temp was 8 degrees hotter out but humidity fell to 12%
hp = 304.6
torque = 250.95
need to dyno again when cooler out and when the car is cold..suncoast thinks the flash needs to be retuned - stay tuned till next week
i do have to say the car is louder and feels faster. but i want to see the proven hp and torque gains or its refund time...dealer says they will make it right
time will tell
also
second dyno run before mods
car was hotter
hp = 301.9
torque = 252.32
you can see the hp and torque loss after the car heated up

No suprise on the first run. A 10% reduction at the wheels is about what I would expect. But over 15% sounds like a lot.
Were they all making max torque at about the same RPM?
No suprise that the flash and headers made little difference. Here's the trick; unless your engine actually gets more air and fuel into the damn cylinder, it doesn't make any difference how loud it is (but louder may feel faster).
In my experience, unless you change cams and increase flow with head/valve work, all this other stuff is just...stuff.
Nice to put $3-5K into your car and have it be the same car, just louder. But that's the sad truth about many "tuning tricks". Good thing you have a dyno to keep them honest.
What flash/headers are you using?

Great point...many tunning tricks dont change the hp and torque numbers one bit...I love people putting on aftermarket exhausts and claiming 10-30hp gains...what a bunch of melarky!!! The same thing was true with ferraris with the tubi exhaust...it sounded great but there was zero hp gain but some owners swore their car was faster!!!

Robbonds,
What kind of Dyno did they use?
It is normal to loose about 3-5hp due to heat soak.
How was the big fan positioned?
Seems like the car did not react well to the flash and headers.
Also did the shop disconnect the PASM?

Exactly..Which is why the X51 pkg is so meaningfull in terms of giving the S a real engine enhancement.

I've been around the 'tuning' scene for a while. Most stuff is crap, especially on the exhaust side of things. There's a saying from those in the know. . . factory hp = 2x of aftermarket hp.
That said, the one area that most OEMs phock up is suspension. . . lots of room here for gains.

all runs max hp was 6600 rpm
max torque around 4500 - it goes down from 5000 and re peaks around 5900
they used a dyno jet
do you think its correct to take the first pull where hp was 312 ? anyting that could throw the numbers off? the fan was in front of the car - i dont think the car was getting enough air like when on the road...but that should be true for all my pulls right?
gonna go drive it right now again to feel the difference..

dealer also said you must drive car for atleast 35 miles for the full flash to take effect...the drive to the dyno was only 8 miles in bumper to bumper traffic...maybe i should do another cold dyno?

Be careful in your drive of 'imagining' a hp gain. At that point things get very subjective and after shelling out for mods you truly WANT to feel something has improved. Hopefully, you had some physical test points out there somewhere to time between to see if things have picked up.
Minor mods don't gain much with Porsche. They really do get good performance out of their cars from the factory and I have watched so many people put tons of aftermarket crap on cars only to have a worse car. The exception to that for hp gains are an aftermarket turbo or supercharger. THEN you will see something happen!

car was running very rich (air/fuel) - thats what they said - not sure exactly what that means - but they said it would have kept pulling if not for that - how does someone fix that?

Rob, this is where the "pure stock" baseline would be an invaluable indicator of just where you are headed with the aftermarket add-ons.
The butt-dyno isn't all that accurate....
