Yes, that's right, thanks for the correction. How the heck did you remember that? I haven't seen either of those guys in a long, long time.

Synergy racing built that car (or at least the bar and suspension) right?

Nice car - have fun

…my seal gray 997 is on its way to Grand Am Cup (will run later on this year)…the money that was “poured” into it was “recycled” by reusing some of the parts.

“Why not a GT3?” …because you can’t run it or a 3.8 “S” 997 in Grand Am Cup and that’s where this car will end up ultimately. This car came from the factory with the aero kit, delete model, sport chrono and sport shift and was otherwise stripped which was exactly what I wanted. As pictured, the car has adjustable coilovers and sway bars, full exhaust, seats harnesses, roll bar etc.

….so let me make sure I understand some of the posts on this forum correctly; if you have an aero kit on your car and your car isn’t a GT3 you are a poser? If I follow that logic that would mean that every 3.4 and 3.6 996 pro race car in Grand Am Cup is a poser. How does that logic apply to GT3 owners that never track their street legal race cars? If you like the looks of the factory aero kit and/or can benefit from its “track value”, who gives a damn about what “people” think. Now with that being said, if you go changing bumper covers or adding the “badge” you are definitely on your own.

…regarding the black lower lip; the short answer is they get blasted from use, (got tired of re painting my seal gray one) come molded in black, take ten minutes to replace and at a cost of under $300.00 it’s a no-brainer (even keep a spares).

The great guys at Synergy Racing do awesome work but I put both of my 997 track cars together myself.

I have to agree - if you're putting GT3 pieces on your car for their performance benefit, I don't think anyone could call that being a poser.

I have a question... how many hours do you get out of a 997 engine in Grand Am Cup racing/testing? Do you run an oil pan baffle and extra oil scavenge pump like the 996s do?

You have the "wrong" wing for a track car. (kidding)

But seriously, is this wing the same but better or different performance-wise?

Pcar…love the avatar.

Look, calling the Porsche OEM Aero Kit a GT3 part is not necessarily correct. I had one of, if not the first Aero Kits Sold in North America and that was a very long time ago. My point is that the Aero Kit came out long before the GT3 and was initially intended to be installed on or bought on a Carrera and therefore it’s really not a GT3 part. Unlike the 997 GT3 rear bumper cover for instance. “High jacking” GT3 parts happens all the time but if you want to really tell it factually, the new 997 GT3 is using the “optional Carrera wing and front bumper cover”. That’s the only way I can see it since my new car came with an Aero Kit and the 997 GT3 isn’t even available yet.

…a GT3 cup car wing is not legal in Grand Am Cup…the wing pictured would be much better then a standard Aero Kit or GT3 street car wing.

…the black lower lip comes from Porsche molded in black and can be purchased as a separate part through the parts department at a dealer.

I guess because nobody really likes wings on our cars.

Unless they are demonstrably useful and functional, most people hate them; especially since our stock one is self-deploying and does a decent job.

If you like having them on your car you kinda keep quiet about it.

Most talk about wings is embarassing. The guys who try to justify them and say they are cool and claim they don't care what other people think are looked upon with skepticism.

I personally think a guy around my age (40) with honkin' wing is goofy, whereas a younger guy around 20-30 should enjoy his car anyway he wants.

“Nobody really likes wings”…wow MMD, that's a bold statement. I disagree, but then again I resemble that over forty *** you referenced in various posts. Just out of curiosity, did your statistical census of “Nobody’s” intentionally limit the demographic to the **** squared carnauba crowd and flash in the pan mid life crisis owners? Maybe next time you can use a broader stoke on the demographic…who knows you might inadvertently include people that purchased their car to drive it.

VB997 dont you think it would be faster if it was silver?

PS: I like wings and think every porsche should have one along with bigger engines, louder pipes and LSD!!!
