Got the car 10 months ago with 1800 miles in perfect shape and paid no sales tax - paid 16k below sticker and it's still perfect today with only 6k miles.
no sales tax???what state do you live in??? in maryland you have to pay sales tax to register your car in the state...

Dan, you obviously have the patience of Job and have taken research and planning to the highest level, and will have one very sweet car when it arrives (love the color, too). Maybe someday I'll have that patience and will order one so its just right - but I have a habit of acting precipitously when it comes to cars - hence trading my 5 mo. old 996 for a 997S on launch day, when I just went to see what it looked like!

Jim,

Having owned Porsches since I was a wee lad I really don't fall in the category of most of us here who have lusted after a 911 for most of their lives only to realize their dreams recently,--so I can wait a little longer to get just what I want. I think, too, it has helped to have been a long time 911 driver PLUS getting current insight from the Rennlisters. (I have about 250,000 miles in all 911 varients).

Hey dan, it was tough even getting 6k miles on my car. I work from home. Believe me, everytime my wife needs something, I'm out the door with my Porsche. I even gas her up 5 miles from home, just to drive it.

I think that's going to be MY problem, too (after I come back from Europe with it) as I work between 4-5 miles from the house! I guess it will have to be road trips every weekend!

I would do the leather center console, door finishers and sun visors. The stock visors look so cheap on a full leather car that I really wish I could change them (and may some day).

I wouldn't mind X51, but I'd only get that one if I was crazy rich. I really don't lack for power one bit.

I ordered my car before the first ones arrived. My options were floor mats and supple leather. White car with the black interior. I would have added the sport crono, short shifter and would delete the supple leather. The car, in my opinion needs no more options. It is a great town car, road car, and track car.

Why would you not do the supple leather again? I'm curious what you don't like about it since I've always liked that option, but couldn't order it with my configuration.

The factory-only options I would have added: TPMS and Sport Chrono
Future upgrades: SSK, maybe PSE

I didn't think I'd AX or TT my car, I was wrong... Happy with my non-S power. In hindsight, what I really wanted was a C2S without the weight of the bigger motor.

2005 C2, arctic silver, black leather, PASM (love it now that I'm used to it), Bose, Nav, full leather, supple leather, heated seats, power seats, bi-xenon, 19-inch Sport Design

Okay, I obviously would order a C4S Coupe with X51. Full leather to the hilt! PCCBs. And just about every single option, except of course Sport Chrono.

I'm in lust, what can I say?

I would not get black. It looks great, but damn it is too tough to take care of for me. I live in Houston, and we have so much pollution, rain , and dust that my car looks decent to me about 1 day per week. It is disappointing. Other than that I would load up the performance options.

I bought my 2006 C2 off the lot, after having searched inventory of ALL Ohio dealers. It was the only car that was the color combination I wanted (artic silver/black interior), with the "must have" options (6 speed, NAV, bi-xenon). If available I would have chosen a C2S, but I'm happy with the C2. I would have preferred to have the multi-function steering wheel and the auto dimming mirror -- but those are minor things. All in all, I'm quite happy with the car (my 3rd 911).
