How can this be done without dealer assistance....Won't PIWIS be needed to add/order the Dension on the MOST ring

On renntech there is a guy that conected a CDC-4 to the MOST bus without the use of PIWIS. Maybe thats not longer needed on newer cars?

PCM S/W builds are "CDChanger" capable (as this is an expected/std factory option/addition to the MOST ring), so a PIWIS S/W update or initialization is not required.
BTW, if a new MOST device 'shows up' on the ring, the PCM will initially assume that it's a CDC and try 'making friends' with it.

Check out: http://support.dension.com/dension/i...gateway500.php

Looks like June/July is the real date. Looks like an OEM to Porsche.

Just curious, what makes you say that? I didn't see anything on the website/link provided that inferred that.
Is it the conincident timing of the Dension adapter and the PAG adapter for the 997TT?

I also didn't see anything that showed a PAG tie in .......Well, now that you're asking.....are they one and the same , or can we expect 2 seperate product offerings You answered my last question, that to avoid a PIWIS visit, the Dension could 'mimic' a cd changer on the MOST ring....given our previous discussions, presumably that means it's going to have pretty limited functionality, after all you can't scroll thru songs on the cd changer using either of the PCM's rotary *****, so how could the Dension do that? I'm thinking that use of the rotary ***** is pretty fundamental to any meaningful manipulation of the ipod's vast folder system (playlist, album, track, artist)

MOST sucks.

Dension has a history of stringing people along. Their MOST porsche product has been coming out "2months from now" for the last 2 years.

the release date is ALWAYs 2 months from when someone asks.

They've missed countless deadlines, their employees are often on forums claiminig solutions are coming.

Now that they've posted a picture of a prototye, at least it shows they have been using photoshop!

If they miss another release date... well, people will still eventually buy it if it comes out, but this is a ****ty way to do business.

Yup.
From a technical perspective, designing a MOST node is fairly simple and straightforward.
From a political/business perspective (long story behind MOST, the players, their agendas....), it is truly a PITA.
But, for better or worse, at least for PAG, it's here to stay....well past 2009.
