Default Carrera S.... The Worlds Best Sports Car!!!

After 2 days of ownership of my 06 S cab, I am offically declaring the carrera s, coupe or cab, the worlds best all around sports car!!!!My basis for comparison include my1} 05 boxster S, soon to be gone 2} my former love, 2002 ferrari 360 spider, 6speed manual, red with tan interior 3} recent test drives of the corvette c6 and 2006 z06 4} test drive of and aston martin 2005 db9 coupe 5} driving a friends mb sl55 6} test drive of an 05 lambo gallardo and several other misc. sports cars i have driven recently...the S is very fast, refined, easy to driven , perfect ergnomics, well built with a stout chassis, great fast reving engine and timeless design that is sport without being too flashy...the bosxter s is a great car, esp for 50k!!!and it handles very well and has razor like reflexes but it doesnt have the power and presence and comfort of the 911....I loved my ferrari spider, and it made great sounds with it tubi exhaust and the styling was to die for but......the carrera has a slightly stiffer chassis, is more comfortable and easier to drive, handles just about as well and might just be a hair faster..and lets no forget the porsche is half the price of the ferrari and is relatively maintenence free....the aston martin was beautiful but not real fast or exciting to drive but it was very expensive...the mercedes was a high speed cruiser and not a true sports car and the vettes were very fast but with the refinement and feel of the porsche.....Porsche, there is not substitute!!!!

I'll drink to that! I agree that all around "there is no substitute".

Just a quick question, do you think that the 'cab' was the reason (ie was/is the 'experience' better because of it rather than just being a 911)? I ask because I think a drive in the cab stimulates your senses more than the coupe. (I'm not biased......really..... )

Wow, cycle man, that's quite an experience base you have from which to evaluate the 997S.

And I presume it was a purely objective evaluation? LOL. But of course, right? Glad you're excited my friend. We're all happy for you considering all you've had to put up with.

By the way, have you signed my guest book yet?

good question...i almost bought a coupe and have driven one on several occassions... while there is no question that cabs and convertibles are more viseral than coupes in general, the carrera S is the best sport car in any form....

Thumbs up

Guess you like the car!

Now if you really want to experience the car as it is meant to be driven, experience what it's really capable of, do yourself a favor and sign-up for PDE!!

You will NOT be dissapointed.

Are you planning on selling your 360 Spider? Now that you have the greatest sport car (997S) I assume there is no need for it.

BTW, are you going to get the either the 997 GT3 or 997 Turbo. I hear they are pretty good and better than the S.

What Dealer let you test drive a Z06? I assume you are talking about a C6 Z06. My guess is that less than 5% of Chevy Dealers have a Z in stock, and I have yet to find any of them that allow you to test drive them.
