Cool Post your 911 mileage pictures here...

We all know that during the life of our 997's that one of the finest “memorial moments” (other than taking delivery of our vehicles) is hitting that magic mile marker during break-in of "911 miles". This event only happens once in the vehicles life - and to share that moment and capture it for posterity is a right of passage for us the members of the "Porsche Faithful" to participate and distribute amongst our clan.

So - dig up that picture of the magic moment - scale it down to 640x480 pixels and post it with any thoughts, comments, the conditions at the time, ANYTHING you want to say (or not say) about your baby’s first mileage milestone...

911 - this one's for you

It was the first actual warm day of spring while I was departing out of the Washington, DC area heading west towards the mountains to participate in a little spirited driving along “Skyline Drive”. The clouds billowed above the fast approaching mountains as the sun sent its beams downward urging me forward with my fellow 911 friends in formation. The radio speakers were belting out the tunes of “Led Zeppelin” – Jimmy’s guitar singing while he participated in another one of his legendary solos, the 3.8 liters of the X-51 modified engine running in perfect syncopation to the music – I looked down to see that suddenly the planets had aligned for that once magic moment – 911 miles had been reached – and click went the camera…

Default 911 minus 99.7 = 811.3 !!

811.3...that was the mileage when I reset the trip meter...so I could get 911 miles and 99.7 on the trip meter at the same time!!!

I was doing 90mph+ when the meter was reset, it was a big moment. I was doing 5mph when I got to 911miles....I didn't want to miss the photo opportunity and roll past 99.7 before I stopped.

Reseting the trip meter at 90mph was more fun of course!! But there was no way I would have got a decent photo driving fast...I was thinking of timing the picture at 9:11am and with the speedo at 99.7 mph !! Maybe that will be the plan with my 999?

Is a pic of turning 2,000 acceptable?
Happened Friday up on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Luckily just at 2,000 miles there was a gravel road to pull off with nice wood fencing.
I totally blew the milestones of 911 and 997.

It's amazing how much info you can get from the gauges via the pictures that have captured this moment in time!

How disappointing....you're SUPPOSED to be doing 100 mph when you turn 911!
