Default Hello all ! My Meteor/Terracota 07 C4S order

Hello All,

Thanks to gotta911 that I found this forum. So I'm new here and am relatively new to the world of Porsche's. I'm sure the forum and it's members will become a valuable source of information for me and for that my thanks in advance to all.

I split my time between the UK and US (TN) and have ordered an 07 997 C4S (US) with the following spec:

2007 C4S Coupe
Meteor grey
Terracotta sport seats with full leather - P78 (non-adaptive)
Special Leather Terracotta - MB
standard rocker panels painted-XAJ
sport chrono plus-640
sport exhaust-XLF
sport shifter-XCZ
19" carrera sport wheel-XRR
wheel caps with color crest-446
TPMS-482
heated seats-342
multi-function wheel-431
extended nav. system-672
bose-680
telephone module - 666
mats

I am considering adding:

Rear console in leather - XMZ
Door finishers in leather - XTV
Sunvisors in leather - XMP

Is the above spec safe to go with? The "grey" areas (pardon the pun) are just that... Meteor Grey... not absolutely certain how it will look.

Your views/experience appreciated.

Congrats...It is going to be an awesome car.

I assume that the self dimming mirror is part of one of the packages above. O/w you may want to consider it. I kick myself everytime I drive at night for not having it.

Welcome aboard!

Outstanding options... I know you'll have a blast driving the (TN) mountains on your P-car... be very careful!

Great car. IMO, go with the extra tidbits of leather. I owned a 85 Carrera years ago in Meteor Metallic, that is what it was called then and I love it.

Check out the review in my signature for my thoughts on some of your options.

I agree with Toomey - buy as many leather options as you can afford. If I had more money I would have gotten all of the ones you are thinking of and more. Although it does suck when it is time to clean and condition the leather (it took me about 5 hours for my car).

ronmart, I read your review with interest and have found it very useful. Thank you.

I think I'll just go ahead and add:
Rear console in leather - XMZ
Door finishers in leather - XTV
Sunvisors in leather - XMP

Cool - you won't regret it (well, aside from when cleaning it ). Just remember to keep that leather conditioned though (especially the parts exposed to direct sunlight).

Haku that looks like it will be a fantastic car, good choice on the extra leather options.

Did your dealer's EDCS system accept Meteor grey option 9Q?

Thinking about Meteor grey myself for a fall turbo build. While I think it is near impossible for the 997 designers to craft a 'wrong' color for this car, I would also like to see Meteor grey in the metal first!

The German Porsche.com Turbo and GT3 configurator includes Meteor grey, next to which is stated (frühestens ab 08/2006). Soulteacher or MHC2S or any German speakers confirm if this means "about" August - chance we'll see the paint on July builds?

Haku - One other option to throw out. As the "icing on the cake" for your leather rear center console, might want to look at either one of the following:

CPT - Storage Lid Bin with Porsche Crest (Leather) - $290 ......OR......
CUV - Storage Lid Bin with Model Logo (Carrera, Carrera S) (Leather) - $290

Here are links to pic of each:

Carbon_Ted, thanks for the reassurance on the specs.

I really have no idea about the EDCS system... I will ask. I did speak to the dealer today and he did say that they should know shortly about allocations etc. and that Meteor Grey is def a repacement grey... but thats about it except that most likely Meteor is only loosely based on the old Meteor. So I remain no more enlightened and will keep my options list open for long as I can.

My worry about Meteor Grey is that it may be too dark. I would love a shade that falls between Slate and Seal... would love to see it in the flesh prior to delivery though.

Yep I am convinced... and will add CUV me thinks... but then again amybe CPT... hmmm... what are you doing to me???? Seriously though, I think it does complete the look and one of them will be added.

My thanks again.

The spec now has changed to:
2007 C4S Coupe
Meteor grey
Terracotta sport seats with full leather - P78 (non-adaptive)
Special Leather Terracotta - MB
Rear console in leather - XMZ
Door finishers in leather - XTV
Storage Lid Bin with Model Logo (Leather) - CUV
standard rocker panels painted-XAJ
sport chrono plus-640
sport exhaust-XLF
sport shifter-XCZ
19" carrera sport wheel-XRR
wheel caps with color crest-446
TPMS-482
heated seats-342
multi-function wheel-431
extended nav. system-672
bose-680
telephone module - 666
mats

I think I'll have to draw the line there. Unless there's a really good reason to add more bits... there's a few months waiting still... crikey!

toomey, your ride is a flippin' work of ART. I love it.

Did you get your rims in GT Silver, too?

Well done I say.

Thanks Johnny. The rimms come in Gt Silver Metallic so didn't have to do anything special there. You can get the XRRs in any color though if you want.
