Vancover83LTD: You read my mind. I supplemented my 997 coupe with the new miata and the combo works nicely.

nothing like driving top down in 70 degree weather..whether you are going 40 or 110...nothing beats a porsche cab...

it might annoy my wife sometimes - but driving topless is the only way to go :-)

Sweet! Then this picture should seal the deal. I discovered this picture last night in my most recent batch of pictures I took but haven't examined closely yet.

Thanks for the hearty welcome.

I happen to be a member since day one on my first post.

I see where you feel it's your call as to whether I post or not too. Didn't read that in the rules. Thought this was a place to have fun.

But overall I think your post confirms the implications of my initial post.

Nice pic ronmart. That is one fine looking cab.

I still prefer a coupe though for what I want to do with the car plus I sunburn easily. I do like driving the Vetter convertible but it is different. If I had to choose between the two I'd pick a coupe.

I am surprised that with 5 pages of responses it looks like no one mentioned safety. I realize that maybe a 997 is not the safest car either way. But... I do live in SoCal and I do like the CAB but I went with the coupe primarily for safety. The visibility is greater out the rear side windows and the blindspots are less.

It is not based on any hard facts (that I have access to) but in a roll I cannot imagine that the coupe would not be the safer of the two. I frequently drive my two and four year old in the backseat and I am comforted that there is a roof (a hard roof) over their head. For long trips we take the 6,000 lb SUV/Tank.

I know this will upset true cab loyalists but I do get a nice flow of air with the windows down and the sunroof open. It is not a cab but it is refreshing.

By the way I just can't help but think how great it is to have this dilemma. Great machine with a roof or without... Awesome problem to have. Life could be worse. You will enjoy either way.

Blindspots are nonexistent when the top is down as it should be. :-)
yes in a roll over the coupe would protect more. Always has (from debris to crashworthiness). If you are driving with a child as I do too, then you just don't drive fast and keep wide berth from other cars on the highway.
A SUV has a much higher chance of a rollover due to the higher center of gravity. And if an 18 wheeler slams into you, no tank will protect you. That said, I always stay clear of 18 wheelers when my kid is in the car.

Well..., might as well mention this too: The thing that sometimes occurs to me when I park my cab is how frickin easy it would be for someone to use a boxcutter to ruin my day.
