I should had post the following question a while ago, however, I've reached the forgetful age.

While changing the air filter, I noticed on the bottom of the OEM air filter box that it has a white (filtering/screen???) paper on the bottom covering two large hole intakes. Does anyone know why???

It seems to me that eliminated this material from the intake would provide better airflow or does the material act as a sort of back pressure protection, if so, does the EVO cold air intake provide the same back pressure system???
