8500 below the RV. Mute is a quick press on the adapter by the cigarette lighter. No reaching up nonsense

You can go through or round the wheel. In reality it's not that difficult to do. As everybody who owns a V1 will tell you the big + is the directional arrow feature.

Have a hardwired Calibre(K40) radar with front & rear laser diffusers. The only visible parts are small laser units at top of license plate. Indicators are 2 blue LED's, drilled into dash alongside tach. One each for front & rear. Very bright. Speaker(voice or tone) under the dash. All controlled by simple to use remote about 1.5" square X 1/2", that fits in ashtray. Pricy, but nearly invisible. Saved me twice already.

Have an escort solo that I lay on the dash on a non-skid pad when I am on the highway. I have a v1 too but I prefer the way the solo looks in the car and just leave the v1 in the x5 usually.....lowsy excuse I know, but it is the truth....solo seems to work fine for me and it is a very clean look

I'm about to install the K40 "Bluetooth" in my C2S when it arrives. How do you really like it? Worth it? Any pro/con on yours?

The Calibre with fore & aft laser diffusers + NYS tax was $2300 installed. Worth is subjective. I have $10K+ of interior options and don't want to screw up appearance with a suction cup plastic box. The EZ-Pass is bad enough. Can leave car parked with top down and don't have to deal with continual on/off to avoid theft. Invisible to law enforcement. Any cost for a detector is preferrable to any speeding ticket.

Deanski, I like the K40 it is very thin, has all of the necessary features such as filter, different LED's for radar/laser warning. It also has VG-2 Shield which prevents detection by the interceptor VG-2(radar detector detector)
this feature is necessary in my area.

V1 hardwired, mounted just above the dashboard where it can detect out the rear window and is easy to hit the button to quiet the alerts. The power wire unplugs so you can move it to another car using the lighter plug cable.

When using a sunscreen, it just flips up.

Road Angel to the lower right of the windscreen to avois interference with the AM signal. This doesn't mean a thing to you folks in the US but we do have technology on this side of the pond. We have half decent cars over here but you know that anyway.

Nice work Bob. I made my bracket slightly higher (for theoretically greater range?) and connected it to seat back so I yank the seat down to conceal it when parking or if cops get too close.

MMD: I'd really like to see what you did --ideas for me :-)
Do you have a picture? It's soooo much much better not having the V1 on the windshield

Is the mute "adaptor" a remote? I it a standard component to the 8500?

Just ordered an 8500 X50 with the ZR3 Laser Shifter (Jammer). It will all be installed by the dealer when my C4S arrives next week. I called Escort tech support. According to them, this is their best solution. The ZR3 has three "transponders". Two hidden near front plate and one in the rear. The ZR3 connects via a single wire to the 8500 X50 while also carrying the necessary 12v power. Until I spoke with their tech support, I was leaning towards the Escort SR7 detector with the ZR3 Jammer. The SR7 unit is very discreet, much like the K40. However, it is based on 8500 technology (Non X50), and as such does not protect against the newer "pop" radar guns.

I was hoping to avoid the suction-cup option, but I've justified this knowing that I can now use my 8500 X50 in my other vehicles. It was also about $500 cheaper than the SR7 w/ ZR3 option.

Beltronics RX 65 hardwired into the one of the empty fuses. i like the Bel because it has the voice alarm indicating which form of radar is being detected. Basically a Escort with more features. Mounted on the top right of the rear-view. Easy and it works great.
