After your SAT installation, I would imagine this will be a walk in the park.....and will not require PIWIS programming

Don't do it yourself. You'll tear your car apart. It takes the Tech 3-4 hours to put in and he knows what he's doing. Let them do it.

At least I'm not tempted on this install - unless they come out with lighted "Club Coupe" sills... ;-)

Just talking with the misses today about "how I wish I had XM in the 997 like she does in the A6" and she replies "what about that radar detector thing you were going to have installed" and I answer "how about I get both next week" and then she just starts laughing and laughing and then says "Does the Cayenne still show you an "!" when you tow the bike trailer" and then I get really quiet...

My 4S lighted sills are on order to replace my S lighted sills that the car came with - I can't believe how many ill sills there are!!!! I know my car was made around Oktoberfest - I'm assuming that had something to do with it.

Please let this be the voice of reason!!!! Unless you really know what you are doing this is NOT a diy install....I tried it and knocked out the power to the driver's door....You'd think it would be easy, just 2 wires, it isn't!!! You need to remove door seal, inner door sill, carpet side trim, door trim panel, door wire harness, bass speaker...tap into door control unit by disassembly of main connector (this is how I lost power, the relavent tapped pins weren't perfectly reseated)oh, and I forgot....removal of original scuff plate, and that one by itself is a f&^king PITA....Use a hairdryer and slowly pull. Yeah right!!! I inhaled enough 3M adhesive remover, that I'm still high now, and I'm hoping that I will regain some sensitivity in my fingertips by the end of the week....and if this whole fiasco wasn't humiliating enough, When I lost door power, my window was rolled down.....I was at a friends house and had to drive home with it open, halfway thru the drive it started to pour in rain, and I got soaked as did the interior... Dealer fixed my screw up, and was very gracious about it, and I'm glad to say the sills look great, as does the car after a seriously needed detail

Wow, Fraser, what an ordeal that was. That downpour while driving home with your window stuck down getting you and your interior all wet had to be the salt in the wound. Glad to hear everything worked out in the end. Did your leather suffer any from getting wet? Did you apply conditioner to prevent drying? Your car looks sharp, btw. And so do the door sills.
