Wow, that's amazing that Billy G. would have actually recommended what could have been the beginning of the end of MS. Maybe he suspected that Apple was too enamored with its Mac to actually take him up on it, and thus in effect he could have been toying with Sculley. Interesting book - I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

Lenovo (IBM) thinkpad t60p. Dual core Centrino, 2Gb physical, 100Gb HDD. This is my third ThinkPad in a row, and I love it to death. I also have a dual processor IBM MPro for 3D CAD apps: 4Gb physical, 320GB RAID UltraSCSI 320 disk chain, XP Pro x64 ... I actually like the thinkpad better. <g>

I know this thread is old, but didn't want to start a new one. I have been a life long PC user (well since, the home computer started to become popular -- my Dad insisted on IBM). Anyways, I currently have 3 computers at home, 2 laptops and one desktop and I rotate between the 3 depending on which is acting up. Seriously considering an Apple. Has anyone else made the switch from PC? How tough is it? I'd be getting the one that can run windows so that I can log onto my work network with ease (other Apple users at work have assured me it can be done "with ease"). Thanks.

After using PCs for 2 decades I bought a mac 2 years ago and use it almost exclusively.
If you want to try a mac before buying one consider installing OSX86 on your intel hardware and see how you like it.

I'm actually running a dual core AMD 64 bit system......air cooled this time.
The only drawback is that there aren't as many drivers for 64 bit systems as there are for 32 bit systems. My laser printer doesn't have 64 bit drivers, so this printer is effectively my wife's.
