Do a search on this forum and also the 996 forum. Tons of people have reported their experiences with Fabspeed.

I have Fabspeed and I am pleased with the sound on my 996. But one man's throaty sound is another man's resonance. If you are having any doubts I would strongly suggest the PSE.

I have seen 2 people post here unhappy with fabspeed ended up changing to pse,
jcnesq was one of them, maybe you can search to find his explanation...
all other comments from here and 996 section were positive, so i guess its personal preference, much like anything else.

fabspeed exhaust and headers really add abour 25 hp and 25 torque?

that has to be very noticeable right?

Get both... PSE doesn't change the headers so add the Fabspeed headers to the PSE cans. I love the sound of the combo on mine. Especially with the cut off unplugged.

I bought a set of barely used Fabspeed mufflers on ebay. Had my dealer mechanic (know him for 14 years and he is an enthusiast) put them on. When I fired it up in his workshop, we both looked at each other with a funny look, like why did you do that? The stock 997S sounded better, the Fabspeeds were very "muffled" sounding. A week later I put PSE on (and love it).

My only hesitation is that I am still wondering if there was something wrong with the Fabspeeds and I keep meaning to ship them to Fabspeed to check. I listened to the sound clips on their website two dozen times before getting them, and I am still left wondering. Fabspeed does make a very nice product, very well put together. So take what I say with a grain of salt, but if what I have is what Fabspeed is supposed to be, I was very disappointed.

Oh yeah!
jonesesq must have had an f'up set, there is no way they should be more muffled than stock.

Yeah my fabspeed maxflows are quite a bit louder than my stock exhaust. Myabe there was a reason they were on ebay?

I have an 06 997 S with the PSE, It is great to just push that sport button and get a rumble. But I have also had fabspeed on my 996, which was not loud enough all the time. I eventually went with the muff bypass on the 996 for track days and just left them on. they were obnoxiously loud, sounded like one of those scooped up Nissans with the 8in exhaust whole. But who dares complain when a 911 pulls up sounding like that. Anyway, my point is the PSE is nice, but no HP gains and really limits the Hp up jobs you can do later. I have spoken with some noteworthy tuners that say the PSE is a sound gimmick, I agree, I am attempting to buy a used set on ebay, cut it open and see if we could get the best of both worlds. a normal Porsche with the option of a little less restriction with the sport button pushed. I doubt I will get it better than just having a Tubi or Fabspeeed all the time, but why cant teck-art or one of those companies see that the sport button is a nice gimmick and change it to a sport and hp button. My 2 cents save the $2400 of the PSE and go with a AWE or Fabspeed get the extra 10-12 hp and just use the sport button for the clutch travel.
