Leather Options
I am thinking of ordering some additional leather options for my 05 997S. I am considering the door finishers, console, and dome light. Has anyone ordered these and retrofited them, if so, any issues to take into consideration and what did you pay including installation (or did you do it yourself)?

I do have experience with automotive interiors, yes. And they can be a bitch. If you don't do it right the first time, it won't look right. you'll be fixing issues. Think about a sagging headliner, it's not as easy as just spraying on glue.
and what's your point of posting here? Just to slam me. Immature, grow up kiddo.

My understanding is that it can be next to impossible to retro-fit these options later

Eric, those items can all be retrofitted, door panel is modular so you can replace the finishers separately-- but have the dealer do it. If it's the dealer where you bought the car see if they can cut you some slack on labor charges. Here is someone else in the process, maybe send him a pm/email

In the meantime, any more pics of that natural grey interior?

Fact: When you Order a car with full leather with these additional bits, all the pieces are cut from the same hide for that specific car, so the color and texture matches

some more info...
I checked with my dealer yesterday when I took my car in for the exhaust tip safety recall. He quoted me $1497.00 for the console and $282.00 for the interior light surround (where the sunroof controls are). He said they are both exclusive options easily retrofitable but they would take 4 weeks to get in as they need to fabricate them in Germany. They also quoted me no more then three hours of labor at $85 per hour for the whole job. I have to schedule a return for a number (4 or 5) service campaigns that have yet to be done to the car so perhaps the labor charges could be offset if I wait.
With respect to the "issue" of not having the hides match exactly I am not concerned as I have the natural grey leather which is very dark and fairly consistent in texture and color. Besides none of these new items will be "touching" each other - especially the dome light surround - I would be more concerned if I had to replace part of the dash or PCM trim.
As for "glueing" mentioned in one post the items I am interested in will come ready to install. Basically the factory just wraps the plastic extrusions in leather -- the dealer will simply unclip the old surround/console and clip in the new surround/console.
I guess if I end up doing the mods I will place the old black plastic console on Ebay??? ...any thoughts on what if any $ this would bring? Anyone need one? Matte black with no scratches...
