Default Front Storage - Air Conditioning Option

In the 997 brochure, the section about the PCM Navigation Module indicates that the front storage area (trunk) can be air conditioned as an option. This is to prevent the remote CD changer and navigation module from overheating. I assume that it would also cool the entire storage area.

Has anyone else heard of this or have it installed? Is it a "no cost" option that would come if both the CD Changer and navigation module were installed at the factory? I can't find any mention of it anywhere else, including in the order guide and online. I searched the 997 forum but was not able to find any information here either.

Thanks,
Bob

Knowing Porsche as I do, I would anticipate that it would entail a diverter duct from the existing a/c system into the area of the trunk that encapulates the DVD player for the nav system and the CD player for the stereo system. The literature speaks only of this application as necessary when ambient temperatures in the trunk are excessive, e.g., when living in Florida or west Texas. No cost? Oh come on! You should know better than that, Ben!!

There is no need for that option. I just fill a garbage bag full of ice and stick it in the front storage area...keeps the ribs cold until I'm ready to grill'em on top of my 3.8 liter engine.

Thanks for the responses. I've never had a problem with the CD changer in my 993 due to heat. I'm considering trading in for a 997 and was just curious if this was a need to have, nice to have, or not worth it option. I realize that no cost and Porsche is an oxymoron, but thought I would ask anyway. Thanks again.
