The 997 will ride on 18" wheels
Reason:
18" wheels for a few reasons including cost, improved wear and handling characteristics at the limits. Overall the 18" seem to be more forgiving and really do not give up a noticeable amount of performance over the 19".

I look forward to seeing the differance between 18" & 19" and if the tires hold up better, I may be looking for a set of 18" wheels for the fun driving. I just but the 3rd set of fronts on my car in 15,000 mi

Don't worry under normal driving the 19" tires will last just fine...

Under Track/AutoX hard driving the outer edge will take a "beating" and roll off way before the rest of the tire. I recently had an alignment and put as much negative camber as the car in it's stock form would allow....-40"...better than the -20" that it had but I was hoping for more...
maybe I should just drive in a straight line

OK I won't worry... YET!

Nah, if you wanted to go straight, you'd maybe bought a Z06 right?

my lowly cayman came with 19" ps2. i put 400 miles on laguna seca and 3000 total miles. the tires worn evenly. you just need to adj pressure for track use.

that said, i have 18" coming for track use. tire are cheaper and lighter. more r compound to choose from.

why i have 19" on the car then. i didn't want to wait. i wnated to drive the thing home THAT day.
